Looks like those Twitter reports were accurate. Mantabweb is reporting Yūki Kaji (Eren), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa), Marina Inoue (Armin), and director Tetsuro Araki tooks the stage the Shinjuku Wald 9 for the opening of the first Attack on Titan compilation movie and announced that the second the of the TV anime is being produced to run in 2016.

Too bad a lot of the second season will be infodump. There are a few scenes I'll be looking forward to, so the directing and execution has to be perfect or else a lot of people will be turned off.

Makes sense, the manga is just about to finish what I suppose will be the material for season 2 of the anime. I just hope they put in as much effort on it as they did season 1: something Ive noticed about mangas/animes that tend to become a success (AoT is only behind One Piece in sales these days) is that their animes tend to decline in quality over time (if it sells, why give more input?); this happened to Naruto, and especially One Piece, for example. No point in rushing it and doing a shitty job, especially since AoT isn't going to be very long (I give it 100 episodes = 4 seasons at the very most most).

Will be looking forward to it then.

I estimated that it will not be out for at least 4 years when season 1 ended. This is faster than I have expected :)
