Before the Pein arc we still believed Naruto had the ninetailed fox without a clan. I have no idea where your getting this idea that he needed a clan to have it?

Kurama said its because of Kushina's blood that he can use his power. In the OP I said what if his lineage wasn't ANYTHING special.

EDIT: Rin was not a compatable host. She was going to lose control of the three tails.
