kids are not forced to follow a religion kids grow up with it,eventually they might start hate it and rebel because they are boring. When they grow up they start to think,it is up to them to believe or not and see what makes sense.

Children are more resilient than you know. They will draw their own conclusions and spiritual beliefs over time. Just teach them the best way you can, with what you've found for yourself.

It's not forcing they're your kids. They literally learn from you. You teach them and they go from there when they get older.

That varies in each household, I'm afraid. My Christian parents did some retarded things like ripping my neat drawings off the wall because, apparently, medabots are demons. But they did let me stop going to church when I was 13 and fed up with the illogical gatherings and terrible dance moves.

Another Christian family I grew up with are more strict and the father is a pastor. I went to his lecture last summer and was baffled by the underlying messages in his bs talk. Basically, don't question their logic, question your faith. And he mentioned the Malaysian airlines passengers that were Christians are saved (heaven) Implying the atheists or ppl from other religions aren't. This I doctrine implements fear into the children and repeating things over and over again throughout their youths will eventually brainwash them. The result is that they pastor's son, a year older than me is hopelessly deluded and cannot maintain an intellectual conversation without using the word 'god' to answer questions he has no real answer for. My parents just celebrated sabath and prayed at diner. Some stupid things like demonizing teletubbies because they supposedly have horns but other than that, they weren't so assertive with it all.

Each family varies.

I'd never try to force religious, cultural or political beliefs on my child.

The only things I would fashion regarding my child are tolerance, good morals and manners. Oh, and I would raise them bilingual or even trilingual, if they showed significant promise for the latter.

And he mentioned the Malaysian airlines passengers that were Christians are saved (heaven) Implying the atheists or ppl from other religions aren't.

I went to a Catholic secondary school and we were always taught that you didn't have to be a Christian to get into heaven, just being a good person (or, trying your best to be) was enough. And I'm sure that was based on a direct quote from the bible.

I'm not Catholic though, or even Christian for that matter.

I see no problem with raising a child in a certain faith as long as you also make them feel like they live in an open, accepting environment. You can take your kid to Church and talk about Buddhism in the same day. If you have a religion or a system of beliefs I don't think it's wrong to share that with your child, so long as you remind them that if they go in a different direction later in their life, you will still love them and think the world of them.

My parents raised me Catholic in the hopes that I would, indeed, choose to remain Catholic as I got older. I went to Church as a child and have been in Catholic school my entire life but despite that background, I have never felt like the religion was forced upon me. My house has always been very open to discussion and differences, and in my opinion, that's the way to do it.

None of that fire and brimstone "If you don't praise the Lawd you're going to hell" shit.

My father was quite the bigoted Christian. Things always had to be the way he wanted, we had to go to church when he said so, read the Bible when he said so (that is every day). Why? Because he is the head of the family and god bestowed the responsibility on men to lead the family (it's another question my mother worked more than him for a long time and even so, later he cheated on her and left us). But well, he said he'd rather kill us than breaching the Bible's commands and if he tells us to jump out of the window, we shall. Was he talking figuratively? I dunno but when my sister didn't want to read the Bible, he broke through her door and beat her u.u Apparently all holidays are unbiblical and pagan so no christmas, birthday or independence day. And according to the law, parents have the right to choose the way they want to raise their children. What he achieved is that secretly I started to read "satanic" books about evolution/history etc.

I challenge any religious nut here to tell me this is not 'real Christianity'.

Seems kind of extreme. I'd think this way of embracing Christianity is a minority, not a majority. I've known nothing but Christians my entire life and haven't met anybody this strict.

Then again, I don't know anybody that really follows all the rules of the Bible, and I think that's a good thing. Half the Bible is outdated, irrelevant, and cruel.

Not a religious nut but it's not a true Christian. It's a sick fanaticism. Rant on.

Theres a time in life when those kids will grow up and actually start making choices by themselves, and one of them will be wether or not they believe their religion is true or not.

Report me if you wish. You don't rustle my jimmies. You were using the no true scotsman argument when it comes to Christianity, but agree with Aim64C when he says Islam is inherently violent. Double standard at its finest. Therefore you're a hypocrite, as a matter of fact.
But nothing I posted can give a valid reason for reaching the conclusion I'm nihilistic. I'm quite sure I live by higher standards than most christians. I don't drink, don't smoke, don't fornicate....etc.

hmmm.
mine did not go that extreme yet even if born in orthodoxic family I think it is thanks to globalization. My parents would do retarded things too or beat me up for something like if I ate meat. As a kid I was religious,I myself did retarded things but then I grew up things changed. Superstitions are big problem though. Yesterday there was a cobra strolling around,I asked mom if we should kill it some could get bitten if it is around house even though I knew people here dont do that. She told me stfu pleb and father came home and called a bunch of astrologers and arranged ceremony while I face palmed :| I thought I should have been astrologer for a moment I could have made a lot of money if I hired a snake charmer.
Most people here are priests because they want to make money even for their children their main concern is to pursue education rather than being strictly religious. They do things like denouncing other religions and stuff against religion and I have not seen attended brain washing lectures especially concerning religion but they are done for political advantages in large scale. Anyway things were quite tolerable and did not harm me or my stand, when I argue something they pray to god to fix me.

lol Islam and Christianity aren't even connected. How did Islam get to be and how did Christianity get to be? How do Muslims react when their religion is bashed in media and how do Christians react to everyday bashing on TV?

Also you're generalising as a fact and are bothering others when they do it. Therefore you suck. :3

Don't worry. I'm not going to rustle you any longer. I just came here to eat this bowl of popcorn while throwing your words in your face. Ta-ta...

People like you are the reason why I prefer Islam over Christianity, actually. Keep being deluded that your religion is better :bye:

PS. I didn't generalize. I just posted my personal experience. You were using the no true scotsman. Look it up. Smartie. You're one typical sheep. Backing out when you're exposed.

PPS. How Christians react to criticism? Same way like you. Arrogantly and butthurt. So you are not really helping your case here. (And see what happened with the Da Vinci Code)
How did Islam get to be? Same way as Christianity. There was a prophet who claimed to have been sent by god, got some followers, they were persecuted but later they gained political power.
And it's funny how you're proud of yourself rustling jimmies. You're not following Jesus's example, little hypo.

Do you even learn bro?

They both have the same root story and share beliefs. Allah means God, the same God present in the Bible. Jesus is also present in both, and is the messiah in both.

They do of course, stem different ideas and beliefs - that's how they are different religions but saying they're not even connected is a very unlearned statement.

Kids are very impressionable. If you leave them an empty slate, someone else will "force" their beliefs on them, whether that someone be from the neighborhood, school or elsewhere. I think you can agree that the person who brought them to life and supports their needs has the right to be the first to relay knowledge to them.
The right thing to do is teach your kid how to assess any idea with logic and avoid dogmatism while teaching him your ideas.

I don't know man, those sort of religious folk don't seem so bad compared to Allahs soldiers.
