I see no problem with raising a child in a certain faith as long as you also make them feel like they live in an open, accepting environment. You can take your kid to Church and talk about Buddhism in the same day. If you have a religion or a system of beliefs I don't think it's wrong to share that with your child, so long as you remind them that if they go in a different direction later in their life, you will still love them and think the world of them.
My parents raised me Catholic in the hopes that I would, indeed, choose to remain Catholic as I got older. I went to Church as a child and have been in Catholic school my entire life but despite that background, I have never felt like the religion was forced upon me. My house has always been very open to discussion and differences, and in my opinion, that's the way to do it.
None of that fire and brimstone "If you don't praise the Lawd you're going to hell" shit.
