l0l clearly you don't really understand what's going on with Toriko. Ingredients or at least the ones that are worthy to devote a chapter towards are much harder to obtain than the ones in human world. They are gourmet hunters after all. We've had several chapters just about preparing the food in the last arc and one chapter devoted to eating AIR. It still has the balance between food and fighting, it's just that now it's harder to obtain the food items even with the 4HK working together. There's an emphasis on how dangerous the gourmet world is now. People enjoy Toriko for it's food, fighting and expansive world which is still present and balanced quite nicely. Well it's no surprise that they are becoming more powerful since they are eating Acacia's full course items who is seen as that savior in their verse. What, do you want a regression in power? l0l0l0l
Let see.. where to begin, I dont really understand what's going on with Toriko ? i'll agree to that... which is why i said Dragon Ball is the closest thing that i can relate to the current happening in Toriko, this is not the Toriko that i read a few years ago, you see unlike Dragon Ball Toriko is a part of the modern shounen following the rise of One Piece and Naruto, both of that manga established a new style of shounen, and Toriko is one of its follower and one of the few that happen to have all the elements to replicate One Piece and Naruto success, but sadly it was poorly executed,
BOLD: sounds like they are collecting the 7 Dragon Balls eh ?
>"Has no shounen appeal anymore"
>Compares it closely to DB
Okay, lmao. Shonen traits are still evident whether you want to deny it or not. It's that there's a lot more blood/gore than the typical shonen series which is fine and it's not mindless like you've stated. Power-ups is still a shonen trait.
Didn't you read ? i did say they still have "shounen trait" but that trait is an old one its like they were serialized back in the 80's when all rage in manga is all about power ups and muscular body like IN JJBA,Hokuto No Ken and Dragon Ball,
and a manga like that now will be put into the shredder as soon as the editor finished reading it,
Yes tons of illogical reasons. My reasoning was that it was doing fairly well in rankings and seeing how it should return once DBK returns I don't see it ending even if Naruto continued. If a series is doing well in rankings whether it's true or not that the readers have little influence on the rankings, it would still support my conclusion. Toriko has made multiple appearances in the front cover of WSJ on top of that.
Illogical for you since you have no idea how things work, i mean you said this "Toriko has made multiple appearances in the front cover of WSJ on top of that" whats that supposed to mean ? every manga has their own fair share for cover page appearance, sometimes cover page/color page in jump is only used to boost ranking/promotion purpose or celebrating something,
Readers does have influence in the ranking and actually it was the readers who decided which manga should be in top 3 or bottom 3, after all each copy of the magazine have questionnaire included in it for readers to determined their favorite manga, you don't know that ?
All my reason is based on what i know about how Jump system work when it comes to axing a manga, they can't cancel another long running manga one after another, and the tepid reception of the newer series is also one of the reason why Toriko is still running in jump,
that guy in previous page mention shaman king... Shaman King is also a long running series in jump around 2004 after enjoying some successful year with their anime adaptation, and then 3 new manga enter WSJ Gintama,D Gray Man and Reborn, this 3 manga later become the flagship in jump alongside OP,Naruto and Bleach,
as soon as that 3 series shows its potential Shaman King get axed right away,
and once again i have ground for my statement i already told about Beelzebub,Sket Dance and Nura Mago right ?
Nah, it didn't. It's not like Toriko's rankings would of decreased if Naruto was still continuing or it's likelihood of getting axed will increase. It's been featured with OP (Luffy) & Naruto in multiple WSJ magazine covers, there's obviously a bias for Toriko with the higher ups with SJ (or whoever makes the rankings & decides what goes on their magazine). I can understand you saying there's a chance for Toriko getting cancelled soon if it doesn't get an anime for 2015/2016 (which I can see happening) but to say Naruto is the single reason why it didn't get axed is pretty weak and baseless.
Like i said its not just about Ranking/sales its about the manga itself and the current situation in the magazine,
and again cover doesn't really mean anything, but there is a biased for Toriko in WSJ alright , the very 1st episode of the series is a crossover with the greatest manga in jump history One Piece, promotion doesn't get any better than that, which why a series who got crazy promotion like Toriko shouldn't be meddling in the middle of the table, its supposed to be up there in the top 3 or at the very least when things get bad in top 5, their sales is supposed to be in top 5 every year, that's is also one of the reason why they're in danger of cancellation, great things are expected from Toriko and its not delivering,
Naruto finale is not the sole reason yes ? but from what i see they played a major part in Toriko's great escape,
because they can't simply lose a long running manga one after another.
