It really isn't surprising that Fairy Tail is beating Bleach, Fairy Tail's popularity has been on the rise for quite some time now, while Bleach has been going in the opposite direction for a while now.

And this is coming from someone who doesn't follow either series

look at teh volume sales, AOT isn't even close to OP

and atm SNK has a loot more sales from old volumes BECAUSE OP has been out since the 90s, everyone already has the old OP volumes so it's mostly new sales, SNK on the other hand is misleading becasue ppl are still buying old volumes, just pure volume sales are nowhere close to OP

I don't think you get it. This is based on the sells for the year. Sure OP has more volumes, and sure people could buy the older volumes just like they did for AOT, but the sells for those volumes isn't much at all for an older series. If you wanted to compare what OP has sold in total has sold 300mil+. If you want to compare that to the 11.7mil AoT has done, it doesn't mean too much.


OT: Damn that was close for 1st and 2nd. I knew OP would come out on top at the end of the year. The hype train died for AoT the middle of this year, and people stopped buying all of volumes vs just the recent ones that come out that year. OP always is on top when it comes to Manga sells by volume, so despite Oda being sick and only putting out 3 volumes this year(and the sells of vol 72 still being bought in 2013), it outshined the 9 volumes SnK had in the top 100. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

I'm happy Magi is 8. That manga is really amazing.
Also FT beating Bleach in sells. That has to hurt someone somewhere.
Lastly, has anyone read Haikyuu!!? It got 3rd and I have never even heard of the series. Has anyone read it and give me a quick summary on what it is about?

I prefer AoT to OP to be honest (objectively the manga is better in every way bar art maybe imo) but yeah, this is correct. AoT, aside from being only a few years old (so that a significant proportion of the fan-base are newcomers whod buy the old volumes too), also got a massive 2013 anime popularity boost (so much so that it seems that it only became a "thing" in the west after the anime).

if our personal opinions are objective than I can objectively say that SNK is a mediocre manga that only got attention thanks to the animators, I can objectively say OP has better art, better story, better action, better characters, better comedy, better emotional moments, ...

Yes my mistake (hasty post, habit over thinking), there shouldn't be an "imo" there

SnK outclasses OP in every meaningful way:

Plot/Story: Pretty much by default since it actually has a plot; OP is more or less a formulae rinsed and repeated every new arc with new characters, though it does have an exception here and there.

Characters: OP characters (aside from Luffy) pretty much stop growing after the arc they're introduced in (or after their character arcs, e.g. Robin). Not to mention their generic-ness and one-dimensionality. Even Naruto (ffs Naruto) is better in this regard.

Emotional moments? You referring to Odas habit of drawing a crap ton of snot on every character every other chapter or so or something bro (see I stopped being able to discern those "emotional moments" long ago)? Ill give you comedy (not that that means much, Id give OP for its "comedy" over even masterpieces like Berserk: some manga are just better without it) and maybe fighting (but at some point for me, the repetitiveness of it all got me bored of even that). Don't get me wrong, Im an OP fan as well (I was watching the anime as a kid on freaking cartoon network, that shitty 4kids dub) but lets be real here: OP is just Dragonball done better, its a fun anime/manga and all but certainly not worth its popularity as far as literary quality is concerned.
