true, but design plays a big role in whether I decide to read/watch a manga or anime. If I don't like the art I tend to avoid it altogether.
Then again, I did avoid Clannad and after-story for the longest time simply because looking at the characters' eyes annoyed me

When I finally decided to watch it, I came close to tearing up on numerous occasions XD
Well yeah. I like OP in general but I am not least impressed with it's art style. It may work for Oda seeing the large number of characters he uses. Still I can't bring myself to care much about characters and Frankie's design actually annoys me somewhat.
On the other hand like art of The breaker. Back ground in Orange marmalade are also well done.
Ubel Blatt art is really detailed as well despite hero looking like a little boy till he is in battle mode. Contrary to his looks there is nothing like an innocent little boy in him.
