The sharingan, a kekkai gengai (blodline power) limited to the uchiha clan, was transferred to him from Obito Uchiha by the medical ninja Rin.He has been said to be better at taijutsu than Rock Lee, smarter than Shikamaru and has a better tracking nose than Kiba. Also, kakashi's hand seal jutsus are very fast. He is able to performed highly complex jutsu much faster and with much fewer hand seals. Kakashi is able to create shadow clones of himself to distract or attack his foes.

Shikamaru has an IQ of over 200,beyond that of a genius. Asuma has never beat him in shogi. During his fight with a sand ninja, he realise that it was impossible to defeat her although he had thought of over 100 of strategies. Shikamaru is a good planner and is able to devise brilliant strategies to defeat his enemies.

You do know Naruto said that before he actually seen Shikamaru, Lee, and Kiba's skills after the time skip right? So he was talking about part 1 versions of the 3, not the skills they had at that time since they all surpassed Kakashi in those respective fields. Naruto said it during the bell test if you want to go see it and see Naruto never seen what Lee, Kiba, or Shikamaru could do.

Kakashi got Kakuzu's blood and Shikamaru used it for Hidan's ritual and ending up killing one of Kakuzu's hearts. That was his plan for Kakuzu.

I ment during the first fight. As for the second one, the blood was only to ruin hidan's ritual (since he didn't know of the multiple hearts when he made the plan) kakashi was supposed to 1 shot him with raikiri.

That's because they were caught off guard, he didn't know he would be fighting Akatsuki nor did he know about their capabilities. Kakashi praised Shikamaru being able to make a plan after fighting them once and even reworking that plan to include him so Shikamaru had a plan to fight Kakuza and Hidan without Kakashi. Shikamaru had more than 1 plan, he had backup plans in case something goes wrong. He trapped them with Asuma blade that mimic his shadow possession. Use the needle to get Kakuza blood if Kakashi gets a chance. To separate them.

Why bring up Asuma dying? I remember Kakashi being leader of his team when Rin got kidnapped and it resulted in Obito "dying" but really turning evil that brought about war and many deaths which includes their teacher (Minato). See what happens when you look at the bad? Shikaku was the acting leader of the alliance and Shikamaru took over after that. Both Shikamaru and Kakashi first learn what they can about their opponent then put a plan together, Shikamaru can put together more plans which makes him the better strategist. Kakashi was literally doing nothing but watching Naruto and Sasuke fight Kaguya to see what all 3 can do.
