[Debate] Is Virginity Still Important Nowadays?

I don't think this can be answered beyond anyone's personal preference. I am not a virgin and I do not regret any choices I have made including the person I chose to lose my virginity too. I don't see anything wrong with having or choosing not to have ***. If you're a virgin, that doesn't make you better than anyone else; it doesn't mean you have a stronger moral compass or that you're going straight to heaven. It just means you haven't been physically intimate with another person for whatever reason. The reverse is true also. It doesn't make you man of the year to sleep with 50 girls. As long as you aren't procreating with no means to support a child or passing around STDs, then do what makes you happy with whomever makes you happy.

Some on this thread are coming to the conclusion that virginity means you have self control
Others are blaming the media for making virgins feel bad about being virgins and some are saying that media is making it okay for nin virgins to think that its alright for not being a virgin

How are they the same? Those quotes say virgins shouldn't be put down for being virgins, it's the same as how non virgins shouldn't be put down either. It has nothing to do with morals. The only thing is the former is much more apparent, well at least where I live. It doesn't always tell you about somebody's character but it can. For some, it does show self control, you can't deny that.
THE FACT THAT YOU BELIEVE *** IS JUST A BODILY FUNCTION AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO IT IS YOUR OPINION SO TAKE YOUR OWN ADVICE.

Unmarital *** is indecent. Simple matter of fact. It's sad that the media is portraying the defilement of their body as something cool to do. Before we know it, prostitution will be legal and a respected profession.
That's not a fact. There's nothing factual about someone's opinion regarding an act. If it's indecent for you, then that's okay; however you cannot judge what is right or "decent" for others. Consensual *** has nothing to do with the media. Long before any forms of radio, television, or even newspapers there were men and women who engaged in pre-marital ***. I can almost guarantee that someone you're extremely close to has done so. You're right in that it doesn't make you any more cool to be sexually active; but because you are not engaging in sexual activities (whether as by choice or force) also does not make you any better. There is a vast difference between someone being forced to have ***, someone being paid to have ***, and a couple that together make the decision to have ***.

Your claims conflict each other. In one case you speak of *** as a activity that people engage in when in love. On the other hand you displace a so called "stigma" on personal beliefs and speak of *** in its biological function strictly. yet you yourself, state that *** is an activity of love, but that definition of love is rather something we as people place on the concept. nature does it for procreative purposes not as expressions of rationalized love for one another. What is love then?
If i sleep with multiple women on the premise that i felt that i loved them is that actually an act of love? *** in the context of love is really only justifiable if you can guarantee that state being love is the real deal not some generic impulse that we feel in the moment. since love in this sense can only be reflected upon, restraining ones self from sleeping with others does justice to this definition of love. in other words *** in the context of love should be the byproduct of preexisting love after long term commitment is established otherwise it is fallible, impulsive and contradictory to the nature of its definition that we identify with. this is what is meant by thinking of the future being that special person that may exist in the future who you commit the rest of your life to and the idea of self control being this awareness of that fact and not giving in to such temporary and present things.
Ultimately, you need to choose how you are speaking of the concept of ***. the conceptualization virginity is unique to humans because there aren't many, if any other species that are capable of reflecting on these sexual acts. *** with humans relays feelings and messages. it may be a normal bodily function, but *** is more mental than physical so you cannot deny that emotional aspect that exists. Essentially your displacing the act of *** which can hardly be done with humans since the actual activity is physical, but the drive is mental. actions requires preexisting intent. This is dependent of the belief that true love as we define it is special and belongs to one special person only.
