An interview with Masashi Kishimoto about the new movie just recently came out and I thought it would be best to help translate certain portions of it:
”With the movie drawing closer to theaters, the tale tells on the story of Naruto two years after his confrontation with Sasuke in the ending of the manga. The world is in danger of annihilation, Naruto and his friends must stop a plan of bringing the moon closer to the Earth by the descendants of Otsutsuki Clan. This movie will also be about the love surrounding Naruto himself."
At his office, Kishimoto has stated that ”This story will about love, the love of the main protagonist of the series, Naruto! Speaking of Naruto himself, he was still carrying a pale love for Sakura. This time though in the movie with a seemingly change to his relationship with Hinata Hyuga. The times that were not drawn in the original, can verify what is happening between the two. In addition to the last chapter of the series, it looks like there are premonitions of the relationship between Sasuke and Sakura as well."
"Also don’t forget the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke. After the confrontation between the two, changes of heart had occurred."
”I would be grateful if people could finish the manga before heading to see the movie if possible. The link between the manga and the movie is tremendously heavy. If you read the last chapter with it's colors, you would be able to get and process the mood. Please enjoy the end and the movie of Naruto.”
Notes from the Interview
1.The movie is about love which will specifically be surrounding Naruto Uzumaki, the protagonist of the series.
It also will detail his relationship with all of his friends as well, and comrades.
2. Naruto was carrying a "pale love" for Sakura.
I honestly cannot decipher what Kishimoto meant by this, but apparently Naruto still have/had some lingering feelings for Sakura by the events of The Last which will diminish.
3. This movie will drastically change the dynamics between Naruto and Hinata.
Love aside, it will also change the way on how Naruto generally looks at Hinata in terms of a person, to a point where he will gain a massive amount of respect for her when she goes through a "great length" to save her sister Hanabi.
4. He has mentioned that there will be heavy interactions between Sakura and Sasuke during the movie.
5. This movie will also go into details of Sasuke's recent change of heart, for when he is defending the village and also of his interactions between Sakura concerning Naruto. (It means that they will discuss their views on Naruto.)
6 .Kishimoto said that he would be tremendously grateful if people could finish the manga before seeing the actual movie as much as possible. The link between the manga and the movie is heavy and he has apparently left hints throughout chapter 700.
7. If you read the last chapter you would be able to get and process the mood. Kishimoto wants viewers to understand how and why it appears the way it does in the last chapter. Apparently he has left many hints in the chapter and pairings together for a specific reason.
8. "Please enjoy the ending and the movie of Naruto."
Pretty much meaning that he wish for all of us to enjoy ourselves with the final chapter of the manga and the upcoming The Last movie.

, one of the many hints that Kishimoto was referring to was what happened behind the Hokage Monument as shown in the trailer, and what happened afterwards in the epilogue chapter.
