Honestly in my opinion (I might sound atheistic or something, tho I'm not a religious person and I try to view everything from a scientific and logical point of view, I do believe in god and all)... Well anyway for me, religion is something that gives people faith (in most cases) it's also in part an excuse for war (as you might have seen in some cases).. Religion was also used as means to control people like the Catholic church did during the middle ages... So yeah Religion is many things... And not one religion in the world can be proven right.

They can't MAKE you believe because even if they do kill you, you'll die NOT believing. You just ''say'' that you believe when you genuinely don't.

They can force you but not make you.

I don't think it's the persons fault. Our intelect allows us to question things, if a higher power exists and doesn't give us any rational signs of its existance then we are in fact not born equal as some religions suggest, because some people never get to know any religion.

But there's no one to blame but yourself when you decide to follow a sect.

I am well aware. But due to the number of religious people in the world, i wonder how someone chooses their religion or how they can still believe in it, knowing all the contradictions there are in it. I want to know what makes people believe.

Family traditions... Your parents and grandparents were christians? You are so too, at least considered. Tho you can still change your religion. Religious change on the other hand depends from person to person. One might not like his current religions principles and change. Someone might just feel that the other religions story sounds better or whatnot. It's really down to those persons.

I don't know. But the way it looks to me, the more the science is progressing, with all the nature of duality and imagination, it is collapsing more and more to the theories of Hinduism, the creation of universe, where everything were talked on cosmic scale like time- yuga, and not to mention where it is writen in Bhagwatgeeta that God exists out of time and space but when he takes avatar inside universe in each yuga, his material existence (body) bound by the rule universe but his soul (which i believe is energy) is not.

Anyway, just saying. Being an atheist myself, i don't really care that much.

It depends on you, that's why it's faith, if you wish to be, or are a part of a certain relgion you should also be willing to research not only YOUR religion but those of others as well. But whatever you wish to call it, and what ever religion you wish to be a part of, is dependent entirely on ones self.

I try to distance myself from what i've been taught believing in every subject (religion, politics, morals, ...). I try to form my own oppinions and beliefs. And i try to see things from other peoples perspectives, thats why i started this thread. I think people dont think for themselves enough.

Yeah thinking for youself is what many people don't do. Doing it yourself is good. Making your own beliefs (not religion that's too large scale lol) oh and yeah who the actual hell believes politicians except some Bakas behind the tv that eat up their propaganda.
