I personally tried many times in the past and I want to make it a habit, it makes you relaxed and present.

I'm pretty sure meditation isn't only that shit where you sit on your ass in solitude, focusing and stuff.

My meditation is whenever I'm alone to my thoughts. It helps me think through a lot of things, if that is what you want for an answer.

I sometimes get confused as to what the purpose of meditation is, different people say different things.

I do 20 minutes of Zazen in the morning and 20 minutes of Mindfulness Meditation in the evening. It's a combo that works well for me.

And it is very effective.

I'm in the process of developing a website dedicated to highlighting different types of meditation, how to do them, and overall benefits.

Depending on the type of meditation, there are different purposes.

Most are common to all types though.

I want to ground myself in the present and be able to concentrate while being relaxed so my goal is the meditation where I come out 20 minutes later and literally not thinking about anything. Just go about my day with that calm present energy, that's what I want.

You can meditate at any time during the day, while washing the dishes, taking a walk or doing anything else. It doesn't require you to sit like a statue for hours. It's a practice of awareness, and mindfulness. I advise you to research this some more, because when it's done properly and for right purposes it can be very effective, otherwise you can completely mess up your mental health.

In that case, I think you're best off with Mindfulness, which has it's total focus on remaining in the present moment. The best part is that there is no specific posture requirements and there's different variations to suit different tastes. Plus, there is a plethora of research to back it.

< Half way down the page there's a few styles and outlines of how to do them.

I recommend a minimum of 5 minutes up to however long you want.

yeah it's great for me, but it took a few years for me to learn how to meditate and which type worked best, as most other practices do. I'm actually still trying different types of meditations and getting into this type of stuff, right now I've been doing transcendental meditations. How it works and how I do it is something I can explain if any one wants to learn more through PM. But basically it helps replenish and sort of re- reticulate my thought process throughout the day. My advice is to keep trying OP, whenever you find the time to put things aside and go in deep!

I have a hard time living in the present and focussing on something that requires learning for an extended period of time. (I give up quickly when I fail piano for example)

So yes, I do meditate but not too often. I zone out though. When I do, my vision morphs and blurs and its like I and my surroundings start to emit light.. In the mirror, my silhouette starts vibrating rapidly and after a while of having not a single thought in my head, my face and everything of my body that I see reflected in the mirror disappears. I see the wall behind me where my head should be. Sometimes I see crazy things. Pretty amusing.
