(Opinion) Users here don't incentivate the FanFiction section enough..

Some users here devote their time to putting something out for the users of this community..
Yet the threads on that section are hardly praised or commented..
Even MODS don't seem to care other for the FanFiction with their usernames as the title of the characters..
That is a really good section and should had more attention..

Now you're basing things on nothing but hot air. It seems to me that you're just trying to advertise your own fanfic -_-'

Fanfics are just for fun, you can't make people "force" to read them, that's just sad.

Also I've noticed that some people suddenly started to make new fanfics. I haven't been reading them all, though I can just see by the looks of it that they still need a lot of experience. There are some who post multiple chapters in a few days or even on the same day, while you should wait some time between to chapters otherwise it can get confusing as people need to have the time to read and understand the entire chapter.

Also the lenght of the chapter is important. If every chapter is short, you can't call it a fanfic. And posting different chapters in the same thread is lame too. Than it's not a fanfic anymore.

What is that crap about mods? There are indeed a lot of fanfics with mods in it, however do you really think that's the reason why we read them? Now you're just being ignorant. I was a character in Benazz ff, but I died two chapters ago and I'm still reading it:| I also have read a lot of FF like TCS's Generation Pearl and Roku's FF's and I wasn't in any of them. The same counts for all the other mods.

As far as I can tell you just recently discovered that section and now you start throwing that crap while you barely have any experience in there. it's true there should be more people reading them, however that's just the member's interest. But all the rest you just said is a sign of your ignorance.

You shouldn't judge by your own preconceptions.. I think you're trying a little to hard to play the "Professional Flamer" here with the "Ignorance" comments which judging by your "Ignorant" accusations, you are the one being the "Ignorant"..

I don't need to promote my Fan Fiction as mine actually is the second most viewed in the first page behind a thread which isn't even a Fan Fiction..

Obviously the theme of this thread bothered you. As you started to reveal an hidden anger towards me and hidden "flamming" towards what i was saying..

I agree that presentation and subject sometimes are huge "Turn-Off" in a fanFiction but also this forum doesn't do enough to promote that section.

And for last but not least i created this thread because it's the general feeling in alot of Fan writters in here. Who stop writting at the second or third chapter because no one bothers to post comments and appreciation in their chapters threads..

You do realize that I'm one of the mods of that section + I've been a lot longer member than you and I haven't seen you much in that section + I don't really want to hear such things from a guy who orginally posted this thread in the "Naruto Discussions" section xd

And one of the reasons why your FF is viewed so much is because you have posted multiple chapters in one thread and that resulted in that thread being bumped all the time while almost every one else (except Kyuubi Sage ~_~) makes a new thread for every chapter. I'll tell you what: you go searching for Roku's FF of "The Twelve Olympians" and start to count all the people who viewed it and all the people who posted in it or you could do the same with Benazz his FF or the one from Decipher.
It's really not something you should be proud of you know

Hidden anger...xd I admit I don't like this thread as it's stupid and a lie as you say that the only FF that are read are the ones who have mods in them (which isn't). With that you insulted all the people who made those FF and I thought you wanted to make that section more popular, to not let the effort that all those writers did go to waste? The FF-section is clearly visible and that's enough. Not to mention that there's a contest of it which is promoted by Lawliet. It doesn't need promotion, people are just not interested that much.

*coughs* I actually have an opinion on this, but, I mainly agree with Caliburn.

This something I realized a long time ago, and I think the "authors" on here (Riku, Dechiper, Roku, etc.) also have come to this realization as well - or I might just be spewing my own feelings. This also applies to the FF contest, as well as the section in general.

While I don't write much anymore due to being busy IRL, its still a passion of mine, and I love to post them here. Now, every author enjoys feedback on their story - it opens gateways to praise and improvement. But, after a short while of writing, and another thing I won't mention due to respect for this FF section, although most people already know what I'm talking about, its a lot easier to check the popularity of your fan fiction, not by the amount of comments, but by the views the thread gets. Even I stop by there sometimes to read without commenting. Ex. I've recently taken up reading Roku's Bleach: FATS, and even though I've not posted a comment, I thoroughly enjoy the series, which is why I've read 25 chapters so far.

Think of the stories here as actually publications - while authors like direct feed back (the comments here), the best way to judge the popularity of their story is by the sales (on here, the thread views).

As for it being unappreciated/ignored, that's just the way it is. This forum is RPG and discussion heavy, and for someplace that is heavy in FF, you usually have to go to said place, as stated above.

But, whether the section is receiving a lot of views or not (and this next point extends to the hostility in the FFotM contest), an author's job is not to prove how popular of an author he or she is, or to win medals. It is to tell a story for the enjoyment of those who do read it. I take joy in actually writing a story, knowing that I'm giving life to a story that would otherwise never see the light of day. Comments, views, medals, all of that is just icing on the cake.

And you know, I'm not angry at all at even the low views. If I want more people to read it, I'll start advertising my story in my signature again when I first came to the base.

We - the authors - have no reason to be angry. Weather you like it or not, we write for ourselves (atleast I do) and the story, as much as for the reader.

And like Caliburn said, you can't force people to read, you can only hope they will.

I don't care if it came to the point where I everyone here hated my FF's/ didn't read them, I would keep writing them, so long as I enjoyed it.

<.< And now that I'm rambling, basically, not everyone likes the story, not everyone wants to comment. So long as people read, and so long as the others write, the Fan Fiction will always be alive. You have to see it as a library. Almost always quiet, somedays busy, somedays not.

And, the Moderators should not have to be obligated to read a fan fiction just because they are in it. That just means they are popular enough for writers to continue to use them as characters.

^Sorry if none of my rambling made sense.

If you write to please other people, then don't write. Write for the joy of writing the story, views/comments...or not.

I agree with Cali, but the Fanfic section is a little underadvertised, but it's for the best I'd suppose. There could be some advertisement campaign in the scroll bar such as maybe "Newest Fanfic Chapter", but as Caliburn said, you cannot force people to read your fanfics =/

I agree with cali you can't force ppl to read your FF and if not enough ppl are viewing it or posting on it well make it more interesting dude I have a my own FF and even I can see that I need more experience on it just wait a lil and I bet yow will get enough views.

Me personally, every time I write my FF I try to surprise even my self, when it comes out on each new Chapter.

Feedback is great, but you obviosly can't FORCE someone to like your FF or even read it at time.

Yes you insulted FF writers as you said that people only read their FF if mods are in it, which means you say that their FF is crap. If you're going to say that that wasn't your intention, you shouldn't have said it as it wouldn't matter if there are mods in it or not.

You have proven by now that you're the most ignorant of all:

- I have been a lot longer in that section than you, I even moderate it as a result I know it quite well. Are you going to deny that?

- You said that the only FF are read are the ones with mods in, which is not true. Are you going to deny that?

- I said that people aren't that much interested in it and we can't do more. If you want to advertise it, the initiative is up to you. Are you going to deny that?

- The fact that you deemed your FF popular because it had a lot views proves that you are quite ignorant about the FF-section as you have been bumping your own thread continuously. Probably half of the posts in that thread came from you + probably 1/4 if the views too. If you didn't even realize that, you're ignorant about that section.

- I didn't agree on what you said and I stated my opinion. However you immediately took that as "hidden anger". If you make such assumptions, it means you're quite paranoid as it is completely irrelevant to this.

I have proven I have a lot more experience and knowledge about that section than you and FF.
