Yet there's not even as close of a chance that that would happen if it's an experienced surgeon who did surgery for over 30 years instead of an inexperienced surgeon. Face it. Wave's stats are lower than Budo's and not just in strength or speed wise. In their battle adaptiveness and experience, too. Budo is a goddamn general, in fact.

Not to mention that Wave's mind goes dumb most of the time and he makes mistakes. Yet he didn't make the same mistake as Budo. Wave would have made that mistake much faster than Budo would have of, yet he didn't.

They are tools for the author to build a story, yes. But they are not machines who act based on calculations.

If the author wishes them to be, they CAN be machines who act solely based on calculations in situations.

And the author is human, too.

Exactly why he is capable of bad writting, too.

Also, another thing - it's basically the law of the genre. Good guys are often portrayed as underdogs, weaker than the bad guys so that we could root for them and cheer for them when they prevail over impossible odds/strong foes. So it's inevitable.

Of course, it doesn't mean that the execution can't be... questionable :| The author needed Budo out of the way so he did this. Could have done so more elegantly, yes. But it's not like she beat him in hand to hand or something.

Better instincts? That wasn't established at all so there's no ground to even assume it. Budo is a general that has spent who knows how much time on the main battlefield. Wave? Nah. He's been fighting only for a couple of years at best.

It's not even my own logic this time. I am taking things the author has established previously until this moment. Budo was established as someone of great skill. Not as someone that is incompetent.

@AC: well, I personally never felt that much was "established" about Budo. We didn't really see that much of him.

As far as we know, he might have much more experience in some areas but less in others. Maybe he isn't used to seeing teenagers handle Teigu so well. Same for Wave. He is much less competent, yes, but there can be any other factors, such as luck.

That is not an excuse. This was just down right shitty. The Nakama shit works against someone only a bit stronger like Seryu or Wave, but Budo? No. Mine is someone who is supposed to be a lot weaker than Budo or Esdeath in term of strenght. Yet she shitted on Budo and is being on par with Esdeath.

Budo didn't have the situation under the control at all, which is obvious from looking at his face.

Well it's not confirmed whether she shitted on Budo, nor is it likely Mine will survive. Though of what you say ends up being true, then I don't even know.. Will be pretty gay to be honest, unless a revived Shura is 10x what he used to be, the manga will end rather soon, or terribly, since there's not much more apart from the PM, who will also probably get solo'd by Nakama powers, if what you said before actually happens.
