I've been thinking about his ideal and point of view. The fact of the matter is that he looks at Itachi and his suffering too one-sided and in past tense. Itachi sacrificed himself in such a manner because the system required it. The state of the shinobi system and overall level of empathy was too poorly constructed in terms of bonding and understanding other's needs and points of views.
Itachi knew there was no other way because there was no opportunity which would unite the world and make the progress of 5 nations growing as one. He saw that in Naruto which is why he left Sasuke to him.
Now, Sasuke fails to grasp this new scenario in which the world doesn't need a sacrificing puppet who would take all the hate that the nations would throw at one another. Because it's non-existent. The world, for the first time ever works together to get rid of the anomaly that threatens their lives. The world learned that in the face of sudden-death danger, only unity can help them survive.
If Sasuke was objective enough, he would look into every possibility and judge it. He clearly missed this point and that's why he acts exactly like Madara and Obito, trying to rule the world through his own means as he sees fit. That's practically the same as being in IT, only people won't be in illusion but under tyranny and rule of power.
Discuss this, I'm interested in debating about this a lot. Their characters are much more fun than the powers.
