^ We're not discussing which is bigger..
I understand that, and obviously your inner self isn't too deep as you just overlooked the entire point. The question was, which is deeper, our inner selves or the universe. Our inner selves is complex, it's so deep that understanding it seems impossible. However, it's not impossible, we can understand ourselves, we can understand our functions, our thinking, how we work. We can do this in todays world to such an extent that scientists are already creating expected dates to which they can fully transfer the human mind and consciousness from our bodies, our brain, to a computer using nanotechnology. We can understand our purpose in life, finding it is a challenge, but once discovered, you can put your mind to anything.
The universe though, mapping it may be impossible, but then again, maybe not. Within 10 years, we'll have technology to fully transfer a human mind to a computer. Within that 10 years, we'll barely be scratching at colonizing mars if that's still even a thing. We won't have technology who knows how long just to see beyond what we can currently view. Even if we do see beyond that, we still have no idea what is out there for we have no technology out there to observe it in depth. In other words, it takes 1 human to understand their own mind and a team of scientists to map it. To do the same for the universe will take generation after generation, hundreds upon hundreds of years.
So what is deeper, what is more complex to understand, definitely the universe. Now if we speak of it in a sort of philosophical sense, who are we? What are we? Why are we here? What is our purpose? Simple, we're animals, that's it' Our purpose is the same of that of any other animal in existence and that is to reproduce and make sure we reproduce. However, something screwed up royally. We were given something that only a handful of animals possess in this world. We were given a conscious, a mind, we know of our existence, we're given a choice to do as we please, so much so that we can even neglect our basic animal instinct of reproduction. What came before us? Generations of pre-evolved creatures that after millions of years became us? What was right before you? Your parents, they came before you, they created you through our animalistic needs of ***.
Thinking of all that is fun, it's gets our mind thinking fast, rushing for answers, but then you go on to think of the universe with the same questions. What's the purpose of the universe? Who knows? What's the meaning to life in the universe? To infect it like a disease? What came before the universe? Just a vast emptiness of nothing? Then you start thinking really hard on that emptiness, and it's nothing you ever felt before. Not even being lonely comes close to the sort of emptiness prior to the universe. You start feeling cold, empty inside, scared. Just thinking of the universe is terrifying and you know so little of it. Just seeing it's beauty makes me want to explore it, but thinking of it's darkness makes me fear it and enjoy this little rock we call home.
