He's not really that much of an interest as a character imo. if it wasn't for his eyes, he would probably be just another Sakura. Any other Uchiha alive at the time of the massacre could have easily replaced sasuke and have made very little difference to the plot line.

Another Sakura? Before Sasuke even awakened the Sharingan he already mastered Fire Style Jutsu,was good with using Ninja Tools,was the top student in his school,and the top graduate.He kepts up with Hakus speed pre ice mirrors in base.Was able to perform High Speed Taijutsu in base,and Speed blitz Team 7 at the begining of part 2 all in base.Read chapters 7,112,and 307.Base Sasuke's feats.And taking away his natural power which he mastered (Sharingan) is pretty stupid.

No other Uchiha could have replaced Sasuke.He is Itachis only brother,and Indra's Riencarnation.
