If we consider both of them alive (non edo) how would they fair against each other.

Tobirama mid-diff.

Only argument that can be put up, is if its based on solely feats. But since this isn't in a VS section, i assume we are talking in the naruto-verse. And if that is the case.. Itachi isn't on Tobiram'as level.

Alive Itachi < Alive Tobirama <Edo Tobirama<Edo Itachi

At least thats my opinion :)

If they were alive Tobirama would win mid diff, hell people were once debating that Tobirama could actually put a fight against EMS Madara.

Itachi.... He doesn't have any feats to put up with his genjutsu, let alone his mangekyo attacks.
But you are going to ignore, he was fighting MS users, and has deep knowledge on the techniques, not just for MS , but furthermore EMS. And all the knowledge he has on the Uchiha.

His power is less as an edo ,but he is immortal against normal attacks, which make him IMO stronger.
Seems in Naruto-verse. Power > immortal bodies man.

He fought Uchiha his entire lifetime. He makes shadow clones and genjutsu is pointless. His knowledge stems so far on uchiha that he even knew about Sasukes blaze style, because he had seen it used before.

If they are in character like they did in the manga yes, they are weaker an example is how the edo Akatsuki god fodderized. Theoretically though, they should be stronger.

Itachi's genjutsu could defeat Tobirama but Tobirama has so much knowledge about the sharingan which could give him the win, imo.

No, but itachi might have completely different ms abilities, and from what we've seen, tobirama can't fight them off very well at all.
I'm aware he can fight the uchiha and mangekyo, but itachi is a renowned genius uchiha who's ms abilities, apart from sasukes Amaterasu, are possibly 100% unique.

This just doesn't seem like a good match up for him.

I've never seen him do anything to genjutsu... Or clones.
He made the clone jutsu actually, so it's probably very underdeveloped compared to modern ninja.

Could go either way honestly. But Itachi takes it high-diff. Maybe even med-diff if he's lucky.

Saying Tobirama wins because he's fought MS users before is truly reaching. Primarily because we don't know the techs of those MS users and how good they were in genjutsu. Itachi's genjutsu looks entirely normal until he decides to distort things and allows you to know that you're in it. He's also the only Uchiha we've seen to employ non-ocular genjutsu. It's not a matter of Tobirama breaking Itachi's 3-tomoe genjutsu, it's a matter of realizing he's in it (which he may or may not- some of his sensory abilities have been inconsistent with the way Kishimoto wrote the war arc) and having enough time to react. What would happen if he was caught in a 3-tomoe genjutsu, then Itachi quickly made him look into his eyes so that he could use Tsukiyomi to end it? It would be over. Itachi also has a varied arsenal as well. Not an OP one (though he does have a few OP techs), but a decent one nonetheless paired with great intellect (which Tobirama has as well). Tobirama's is much more simplified, primarily consisting of FTG, shunshin, clone feints, some pressurized suiton, and things of that nature. He'd need more to take Itachi down.

Also, another thing to consider is that saying he "soloed Izuna" isn't very legitimate. Izuna had been his rival since he was around 10 years of age... he didn't manage to kill him until they were nearing their 40s. :| They were also in a group with nearly every Uchiha down and the Senju mainly standing. It was a group effort with Tobirama delivering the finishing blow.

Tobirama also died after battling 20 no-names. :/ Not all that impressive. Except for the intent behind that (him saving his team). It's not something to brag about for battle, though.
