I don't expect him to get slaughtered. It's just NV seems kind of cruel and stupid with their punishments, like killing missing nins, and labeling Sasuke an international criminal for wanting to kill a tyrant like Danzo. I think a fodder would have got a way different punishment than Naruto got.

Wouldn't an average konoha civilian get some jail time for this? But, since the Third Hokage knows Naruto personally, all Naruto had to do to get off the hook was clean the stone faces. So, while Naruto did get treated like s*it by the villagers, he did have his moments of getting special treatment in a good way.

I always thought he didn't get into too much trouble was because of the nine tails. Sure everyone ignored him but remembered Konahamaru's sensei looked down on him so much. Maybe people were scared that if they threw him in jail he would just unleash the beast. The third Hokage probably treated him differently because of his father and mother as well.

Everybody else got used to it, and 3rd hokage knew what naruto was going through. He had hope that naruto could change fr the better, and maybe believed that punishing him severely would turn him into a monster.

Shit, what has Naruto gotten EXCEPT special treatment throughout the series?

1- Easy access to the 3rd Hokage-I've never seen any of the other kids hanging out in his office and talking back to him......
2- Roaming free and going on missions even though he's a jin. Must be nice.
3- Tsunade not issuing a kill order on Sasuke all to appease Naruto.
4- Following the Cloud village folks to ask the Raikage to spare Sasuke. That shit is unheard of.

He was a annoying kid, even kids that do that don't get sent to jail. They get community service where they have to clean. He never did actual destruction or broke a bad rule as he did when he was tricked to sealing the forbidden scroll. But since he was used by a Chunin I think they overlooked that since he didn't do it to abuse the scroll or give to enemy ninjas.
