Rather than focusing on who is stronger (which is fine), the much better question is what would make for a better story (or potentially in this case, a better END to a story.)
Storywise, it's MUCH MUCH better for them to be equal in power and skill for the final fight, it would even serve the story more if Sasuke ("antagonist"/anti-hero) was to be a tad bit stronger than Naruto (protagonist.)
I hate to compare to DBZ, but just imagine if the very final battle in Dragonball Z was Goku vs Krillin (or in otherwords, a person weaker than the Protagonist)...? Or Harry Potter fighting a blind and crippled Voldemort.... Or the ending of Spiderman 3 (UGH PUKE lol) It would be quick, lame, unsatisfying, and anti climatic. It would leave the reader thinking "WTF, I was ready for a huge exciting climax for this manga I've been following for years... and all I got was this...?"
This fight was hoped for and expected ever since Part 1, and it has to deliver otherwise Kishi will have truly written his story into a wall and will for sure disappointed MANY MANY fans. Any self-respecting writer will do anything they can to make sure it's the best ending they can write.
That all being said, wether it's true or not, for the best ending possible, Sasuke HAS to be equal to or greater than Naruto for it to be satisfying to to just the story, not to Sausgays or Narutards, and for it to be considered a GREAT end fight.
Although seeing Naruto completely dominate Sausage would be hilarious (and almost super sad in a way) and I'd love to see it, but it just wouldn't be a memorable ending and it's not a good conclusion to a story.
Facts are though: It doesn't matter if Former Sasuke couldn't keep up with the 5 Kage or not.... or if Former Sasuke wasn't strong enough to take out KillerB... or if Former Naruto intentionally aimed to scratch the headband thus losing the fight or not...
That is all FORMER, in the past, before their Sage Power Ups.
If Kishi declares they are equal, then THEY WILL BE EQUAL in this fight. All other arguments are invalid.
Personally, I'm not a Sausage hater, but from what I've read and seen in the story though, Naruto seems much stronger now.
And I'm sure there will be much asspulls for Sasuke coming up anyway to create more tension anyway.
