danzo gave itachi the option to do it. itachi carried it out because he thought it was the best thing to do. hiruzen let it happen, hiruzen is like the president. how can someone with less power take full blame with the person in power did nothing, i mean its not like hiruzen woke up one morning and the uchiha clan was randomly gone lol

Naw the elders wanted to eliminate the uchiha horizon wanted peace with them but elders included with danzo didn't want that so hiruzen couldn't go against that basically like a president can't do what he wants he gotta get legislation to pass what he wants to do just like with hokage so that's how a person with less power did something

but again your wrong. sasuke only became crazy because itachi came back to the village. sasuke only left the village because itachi came and made him realize how weak he (supposedly) was. he only wanted more hatred because itachi told him to get more hatred. had itachi not come back, sasuke wouldnt have went to orochimaru. while i cant predict how the plot would be if itachi didnt apear in part one, but everything that happened in shippuden would be different. heck sasuke might even still be a member of team 7

if you want to put it that way then sure in a way danzo caused the massacre. everything after that (that involves sasuke) was started by itachi
