Byakugan Question

Because they have the Byakugan, is it implied that Hamura is the ancestor of the Hyūga?

If so, did no one in their family keep records of Hamura before his death?

Did they just ignore all of his knowledge or family whenever he was alive? Surely he had children who talked about him.

Lastly, why did the Hyūga become so much weaker than their possible ancestor when the decendants of Hogoromo were so gifted? (Senju/Uchiha)

(I'm not saying they are a weak clan, but they are when compared to Senju/Uchiha)

Am I missing something? I'm not trying to bash Hyūga, I'm honestly confused.

Because the story revolves around the Uchiha, not Hyuga so you won't see any powerful Hyuga and any background information on them just like 99% of all other stuff that does not drive the plot and is relevant to the story.

The Uchiha and Senju barely even knew about about their ancestry (Indra and Ashura), I doubt the Hyuga would know.

The Uchiha had something, even if it was mostly made up, they had the stone tablet, which did talk about Hogoromo and his sons

Most Uchiha couldn't decipher much from the tablet (Madara stated that the higher your ocular power was, the more you understood) plus it was kept hidden from most of the outside world. The Uchiha were as much in the dark about this history as everyone else.

Perhaps that'll be the plot for a new naruto arc. The hamura story and byakugan. Hagaromo spoke nothing of his brother other than the fact that he helped seal Kaguya. I'd like to hear about his life.
