The cutscenes are less canon than the manga, but more canon than the anime.
Kishimoto does just have to approve them. For all we know, "approving" could mean that they just tell him the conclusion and he doesn't even watch it all the way through. That would explain the inconsistencies involving things like Orochimaru's entrance (which was way off in this and contradicted the manga)- Kishimoto just heard which Akatsuki members would be against who and approved the fight but didn't pay attention to the details of the gamemakers' rendition.

That could be very true. As long as they came to the conclusion that Kishimoto approved of, he didn't really care about how they got there. But it's interesting to note that if Kishi approved the fights, then he chose some intriguing results. The OP of the thread Korowa posted seems to be miffed that Konan beat Sasori, but I think she could do it.

But, then again we don't know when he acquired those puppets that he used against Sakura and Chiyo (was it before or after joining Akatsuki), so maybe Konan was stronger than him when he first joined.

That's a good point. If the Third Kazekage was his only puppet before joining Akatsuki, then it would make sense that he gained the others after. So yeah, that could be possible. ^^

That caused Sasuke to question if his route was really the best one to take. Plus, it was canon the moment Sasuke had all those flashbacks of Itachi after the talk with the Hokages and said that he wouldn't let Itachi's effort be wasted.

yep, exactly! So in the end it wasn't Naruto who brought him back and konoha once again was saved thanks to this legend and maybe the NV world too who knows . All hail Itachi

-With his first death (he stopped the coup- he wanted another way but his clan was dying anyway...so the sacrifice of their lives lays squarely on Konoha. He just tarnished his own name so that the Uchiha could still look innocent, so it's only self-sacrifice on his behalf. He stopped a civil war that would have led to world war.) & (he stopped the Akatsuki from catching Naruto as a kid- if anyone else had been assigned to capture Naruto, we all know they would have). That's stated in the 3rd databook, and this panel right after he died:

:T_T: he is just the best! I wish Naruto could be the first to honor him and take him out of the shadows when he becomes Hokage but I know a true shinobi is a hero in the shadows
I know. :c Naruto wanted to tell everyone, but he's not. Itachi made him promise not to tell the world the truth about him, so the Uchiha won't be known as traitors and their noble name can be preserved.
