[Discussion] Difference between gender and ***-

As far as I've understood this: Gender pertains to characteristics considered masculine/femenine regarding identity, and while *** can be included in the definition as to what male and female is, it is not always the case. *** being what biology says you are, which even then isn't always clear (thinking about DSD here).

This being said - a person whom biologicaly is male may, as far as gender is concerned, identify himself as female and vice versa.

My question and also what I want discussed is: How come it is so difficult for some to understand that someone 'prefers' (I use this term loosely) indentifying him-/herself with a certain gender and accept it? Why make such a big deal out of it?

Is it because they're uninformed on the matter?

Gender is more broader than that.It is *** and It also include the expectations from that! as in Marital values, political values and statistical values! Husband/wife and daughter/son=> these all define gender!

You can be different from both, e.g be a female husband!

Thanks for clarifying that! I was, however, just trying to address that particular aspect of it, but indeed this brings things into a broader perspective! But isn't it so that *** can also be excluded when deciding gender?

well you can be different from both. You can be sexless and still have a gender

Am I correct in understanding that you're saying people are not to be let to think what they want about gender and which they belong to? If so, why?

I do not know were you correct or not but I do know people dont like to be deceived,Men dont like to be disappointed.
You identified as a male or female has a lot to do with people's way to deal with you and they don't like to be fooled.

You do understand somewhat. What I'm getting at is that it would be foolish to let people feel and think however they want about anything they please.


In regards to gender I'd definitely say there should Be a limit to how much freedom someone should have over how they feel, think and and sometimes even act about it.

Because there needs to be boundaries and limits on human feeling and behavior. Including things people consider as personal as gender.

I mean would you think it would be tolerable for me to identify myslef as a criminal and feel like such a thing is alright. If yes then I'd be allowed to commit criminal acts and feel it's okay or good.

All I'm saying is there needs to be a limit to human behaviors like that regarding about anything. It is foolish to identify yourself as a women when you are a man is it not? That's just living a lie. It's inaccurate and untrue and inaccuracy and untruth is rejected (for reasons in sure I don't have to explain to you) it should be reject in this gender situation aswell. I can't think of any situation in wich Inaccuracy and untruth is beneficial.

I, personally, don't think it's living a lie: Going by what gender pertains to, not always being about what *** you are when deciding it; hence it seems rather logial that one might feel or think they are a female in terms of gender though male biologically and vice versa.
I suppose I can think of a couple of cases where inaccuracy and untruth would be rejected, aye.

So I change my gender as a female and someone else who is female tries to discuss with me about female stuff.
Someone likes my post AND because I am female and gets an impression but then finds out I am a guy.
A desperate male thinks I am a female and hits on me,he gets disappointed.
A guy acts as female and starts to act like a femminazi..irony
If one is a female I am talking to I would refer her as she and if he is guy I would refer him as he while discussing a matter one's gender might be used to judge a person's behavior. Also swearing at a person,you swear at one you call one a ****** and he turns out to be a female.I would have rather used *****.
