Is Itachi a criminal?

Its not that simple, everyone kills for a reason. What did Itachi do it? When there are alot of different ways to go about it.

Yes there are lot of ways but still he murder his clan.Think about those innocent uchihas that were killed.

I don't think even Batman would have killed everyone. He's still technically a criminal.
He could have used Shisui's Sharingan, so he could have activated Koto amatsukami then like Shisui intended.

No, but he went undercover in Akatsuki, as a spy, to serve the village. And killing Danzo would not have created a war, Hiruzen knew how wild and crazy Danzo where, when Itachi had told Hiruzen that he killed Danzo beacause Danzo tried to kill his clan, Hiruzen would have understood.

You make no sense, if Danzo was exposed to the elders and hiruzen they would have understood why Itachi killed him. And kept it a secret. And btw, Hiruzen is HOKAGE, he trumps the elders, his word is final, he knew how crazy Danzo was. If Itachi had killed him Hiruzen had understood fully, he probably would have done Hiruzen a big favor. Danzo was a wild dog.

Killing is commonplace in the Narutoverse. Is Kakashi a criminal? Is Neji a criminal? Is Guy a criminal? Is Naruto a criminal? Is Hashirama a criminal? They are all murderers, just like Itachi.

He's a hero no doubt, but to become a hero, he had to murder. There's no justification for that. Therefore, he's a criminal. All of them are criminals to a certain degree.

Well technically he was a criminal,an s-class criminal because he killed his entire clan, but if you know the whole story he did it to save sasuke and the village from civil war and possibly shinobi world war, however he himself admitted regret saying that maybe sasuke could've changed Fugake(during Kabuto fight) if he hadn't treated him so much like a child, but it was more about him treating sasuke wrongly, so don't really know it's still a confusion, you can never guess what could've happened so it will probably stay a mystery.

He sacrificed him self to save the village ( or there would be war ) and even when he joined the Akatsuki he was working for the village. He´s one of the ninjas who wanted peace and could become hokage. If Itachi wasn´t there who would stop Kabuto? He´s not a criminal.

^This. He still broke the law and committed mass murder. However at least in my opinion he could still be considered a hero since he saved the lives of future konoha citizens.
