[Debate] Ice Bucket chal. Is it stupid ?

Do you guys think that the Ice bucket challenge is stupid or it's a good way to raise awareness.
Personally I think it's getting very stupid lately. This trend has started with a bunch of celebrities donating money, but It has come to a point where it's just fun and games. People have attained a whole new level of attention-whoring by posting videos of themselves pouring ice-cold water on them, but not donating ? What's the point of all this If no one is donating anymore ? This has become one of those trends that get really stupid once they become viral, sadly. Consider this a rant, and not hating.

i did mine a week ago, but honestly i just did it cuz i got nominated. Not sayin idc bout it, cuz i know its for a purpose... But yea i think its stupid, i doubt a bucket of ice and water could actually make you experience what victims of ALS go through...

No of course it isn't dumb, even if people don't donate but just pour ice water on themselves, it's helpful. It definitely raises awareness to ALS and with more awareness, more people will donate to it's research and give greater incentive for pharmaceutical companies to develop products for it. Over $41 million have been raised for ALS research from the challenge.
