Some people say everyone in Akatsuki is at least Kage level. That is wrong.

Nagato = Kage
Konan = Jonin
Hidan = Jonin
Itachi = High Jounin
Kisame = High Jonin
Kakuzu = Mid Jonin
Deidara = Mid Jonin
Sasori = High Jonin
Zetsu = Jonin (but he was a god low key)
Obito= High Jounin (when we count just his own main arsenal all he has is Kamui)
Orochimaru = Kage

So Nagato and Orochimaru are the only Kage caliber shinobi from Akatsuki. Don't think I'm bashing these characters, I'm not. Of course some of these Akatsuki can beat characters who actually hold the title of Kage with their unique and dangerously strong abilities (which is what Akatsuki recruits for in the first place) but that does not automatically put them on the level of a Kage.

Jonin is a high rank in the Narutoverse. Calling someone Jonin level is not bashing them because technically its the highest rank one can achieve on the ninja scale. Kage is something only you can get when the Jonin of the village, its people, the elders, daiymo, and sometimes the current Kage deems you worthy from trust, respect, etc. Although top tier skills is another need for Kage, you don't need to have the best in your village (ie Jiraiya and Tsunade, Bee and Ay).

So yeah, not all Akastuki are Kage level.

Like I said, Itachi has unique and dnagerous abilities Orochimaru was not ready for, he was 13 so I'm certain Oro underestimated him. This is not about who beats who, I already said some members can beat Kage level people. Its what they can do overall. And Oro stomps Itachi with ET any day.
