One piece manga is much better than the anime. Plus reading chapters takes a lot less time than watching an anime. So I would read rather than watch. The anime as a whole is definitely a 7/10 there are arcs that are 9/10 and 10/10 worthy. If you watch through the Alabasta arc and Baroque Works saga and still don't like it then just drop it. It is one of the top arcs and you won't like much else of the other stuff if you hate it.
Theanga overall I would rate an 8.5 out of 10. It is a ridiculously long running manga so there are inconsistencies some overhype and all that so whatever it is definitely expected. One Piece is definitely more about the slow emotional build and trying to get to know the characters and the setting. While other shonen are just about the fights, it is trying to be more about the story. But like I said it is a long manga and there will definitely be some fallacies.
