I've decided to make this thread in order to discuss something that I found interesting.Idealism clashing with being a realist in NV.The two embodiments of these philosophies are Sasuke and Naruto.

First I'll highlight the differences between Naruto's idealistic philosophy and Sasuke's realist views.

Naruto wants everyone to work together by ending the chain of hatred and achieving a level of understanding. This means one has to expect humans to never want anything:no power,no wealth,no land etc;.Otherwise some time down the line conflict will break out again. In some ways Naruto's plan for peace will likely fall apart after he's gone.

However it is a admirable attitude to have even if a little naïve to expect people to change their nature just like that.

Now onto Sasuke's views:

He wants to change the system from the inside, remove all the bad and achieving peace in a realist sort of way.He doesn't believe in changing people's hearts because he doesn't care what they think,Sasuke wants to do what he think is right and prevent more trageties like what happened to his brother and clan from happening again.

Sasuke's methods might be a problem for some but he does have a viable alternative should Naruto's plan fail to work.

So which is better?

A mixture of both is needed for change.

Sasuke's "peace" will not lead to peace.

It will spurn more hatred, cause more wars, and create more versions of Sasuke himself. There is no solace to be had there. Hagoromo/Jiraiya/Naruto's way is the only true way to harmony in the NarutoVerse as it is the only way to end the cycle once and for all.

There needs to be a balance between both of them.........just like Hashi's idealism and Tobirama's realism!! U_U
Too much of anything is never good!! U_U

There is nothing wrong with Idealism.

However, there's also nothing wrong with realism.

There is, however, a point in which both can go wrong. For example, Sasuke doesn't care what others think. To really connect to people and try to change, you have to try and understand how they think and adjust accordingly.

Naruto however might not be able to say no due to him caring to much about other people.

What realist views? I don't see how sociopath views that comes from a mentally unstable person can be called "realistic". The "see problem, burn problem" ideology isn't realism, son.

Want a realist view? Hashirama's ideal is realist. "To protect somethings, sometimes another must be sacrificed. Be it a close friend, a relative, or even your own child". He knew he had to kill madara, and he did it, to protect the "greater good".

Naruto's, thats what is happening, neither of them are going to live together and neither can do anything on their own, the method with which people would agree will work when they are not present because the people themselves will uphold it

And that will only happen by changing people's heart

False, there are always alternatives to achieve the same result.Like I said in the OP Naruto's plan would have to rely on humanity not f*cking up long after he's gone.Sasuke's is a more slow form of change that will likely result in peace happening overtime.

Realist as in Sasuke wants to change things from inside the system and remove the problems that caused everything to happen in the first place.

In other words, Infinite Tsukuyomi.

How exactly? By treating everyone weaker than him like trash? By ruling with an iron fist? Next thing you know, sasuke will be a dictator. Considering sasuke' ideals, that's what he is most likely to do.

I don't see a dictatorship bringing true peace to NV.

Neither of them are a 100% effective in both the real world and the NV. You would need some combination of both tbh.

By "see problem, burn problem", and by ruling with an iron fist, right? Yeah, that's not gonna solve sh*t.

Easier said than done, human nature won't go away despite Naruto's efforts to get people to accept peace.People will always desire something and that desire can lead to greed, greed leads to envy, and then conflict breaks out.

And Naruto's "peace" will lead to opportunism just as things were during Hiruzen's time as Hokage. There is no such thing as ending hatred; it's pure fantasy. Sasuke's way allows opportunists to be suppressed.

Whether it be Naruto or Sasuke's method, everlasting peace is just an ideal.
