What's so great about this anime/manga? I dropped it after 10 minutes.

One Piece is the best anime ever................... I dropped it after 10 minutes as well. Cause the beginning honestly wasn't that good. But youu have to give things a chance, and I'm glad I did. Cause 600 episodes in... it's mah favorite anime ^_^

It has slow pacing the fights are one dimensional and they are pirates with powers.... that they get from fruits....wierd.

There isn't a better storyline. Given it takes awhile to build the story, there is just so much awesomeness jam packed into each episode/chapter.

Not to mention the character are so likable and well developed, and the action is pretty good as well.

You gotta read little details turn into Bigger things later on, Id read the Manga the Anime looks is bad in the beginning but id watch the fights,

I was exactly like you man. When I first saw it, I was totally turned off by the animation and the silly looking characters. I also thought it would be too childish and retarded. Months after that I tried it again because a lot of people were recommending it. The arcs just get better and better. The first few ones you probably won't like that much but man the minute you get to the arlong park arc or alabasta arc that shit really hooks you in and you start to love and really enjoy the characters. If you don't get hooked by any of those two arcs than you really should quit it but most one piece fans recommend to atleast get to those arcs.

Read it don't watch it. Honestly it took like 4 or 5 tries to get through the first couple of arcs until I got hooked. I know now why One Piece is so popular and it has become my favorite manga of all time. The character development and the backstories of the characters is greater than any other manga by far. Every character has a real reason for achieving their goal which they constantly strive to achieve and never get lost on their path.

The fruits are called Devil Fruits. They grant you different powers. Like the main character ate the Rubber Rubber fruit. Oda makes rubber powers awesome. They also have other ones like fire powers, earthquake powers, ghost powers and all sort of stuff.

And a REALLY quick summary of the plot. The main character Luffy wants to be king of the pirates. The first season he is gather ing a crew to make it to the Grand Line where the treasure One Piece is. Luffy feels the one who concurs the Grand Line and finds One Piece will become the King and have the most freedom.
