we don't actually know if he LOST his ems, why would someone be all day with mangekyou? It may not make u blind, but it still must drain whole lot's of chakra.

My guess is that the mask helps with his space/time jutsu, sort of making it quicker, or have a wider range.

The reason Madara needs Sasuke is because he needs Sasuke to take Itachi's eyes and gain the EMS. If Tobi/Madara had the EMS then Sasuke would be irrelevant. The only reason why Madara would need Sasuke for the EMS would be that he no longer possesses the EMS.

Why, got any evidence? why would it be irrelevant? maybe madara wants a succesor, or a powerhouse for the incoming war, someon to restore the former glory of the uchicha along him.
he had normal sharingan activiated, which doesnt consume much chakra and doesn't hurt eyes.

Well we know Madara isn't about "restoring the former glory of the uchiha" because he told us his plan. His plan is to cast an infinite Tsukiyomi on the world and thus bring his version of "peace" and "unity" to the world. Restoration of his former clan, which he now despises, isn't anywhere in there.

Now I believe that in order to sync an Uchiha with Gedo Mazo they must possess the EMS. This is purely speculation on my part. I believe that Madara sent Sasuke after the 8-tails, to the Kage meeting and after Danzo in order to force Sasuke to overuse his MS. Due to the overuse of the MS, Sasuke will eventually go blind. I believe this will happen before he is able to kill Danzo. Still consumed by revenge Sasuke will take Itachi's eyes to regain his sight and kill Danzo. Now with the EMS in his possession, Tobi will persuade Sasuke to sync with Gedo Mazo.
Thus, if Tobi were to already have the EMS, Sasuke would not be important to him because he could use Gedo Mazo himself.
Theres some evidence in the manga for what I'm saying, and a whole bunch of prediction/speculation on my part.

1-not everyone knows he is madara
2-he may be injured(by the fight with shodaime)
3-he may have a sharingan taht it too powerfull to use and he covers it
4.maybe he simply doesn?t want people to see it, as kakashi, he was willing to reveal his face to sasuke though..

Thank you for this post these are all logical explinations as to why Madara wears the mask I stated in an earlier post some of my opinions but Maybe Madara who was weakened after fighting the 1st can't activate all his powers at once, not that he doesn't have them but he can't sustain them for long; consequently the mask helps to supress some of the ocular powers allowing him to use his powers sparingly without exhausting his chakra. Or Madara has some kind of vow to keep it on until he can be restored into his former glory, hell at this point only Kishimoto knows. Check my other posts though I also think that maybe some type of ninjutsu seal that allows Madara to use his space cadet cowboy no justu which allows him to be untouched I can't wait til he gets hit for the first time and actually feels the smack ceas right now that fool is untouchable.

i think he might have relly died that day but somehow after obito or whatever the dude from ninja gaiden is died he took over his body and thats why he only has one sharingan
1. If Madara's EMS can not be turned off... it most likely means that he could just possess Madara's eye, and therefore not the true "Madara".
Tricky yes.
2. EMS does use chakra, just like all sharringan... but for a non-Uchiha blood line user... it drains chakra very fast... meaning that it has to be sealed/covered up.
3. We see #2 happen with Kakashi... and with Danzo... and even possibly Madara... but we do not know quite yet...
