You know how edo tensei needs a human sacrifice right? He coulvde synced the soul of the sacrifice to the edo tensei & make it the edos soul. Just my theory

He failed to bring back Minato, Kabuto had explained it, because his soul was trapped in the Shinigami's belly. No plothole.

I think Orochimaru only had Minato's Edo body, he just failed to summon the soul of Minato.

Did Kabuto really? I guess Kishi must have realized his error and corrected it. So many chapters, I must have forgotten it being brought up. So Hiruzen's attempt to cancel the summon would've had no effect regardless. If Minato's soul hadn't been sealed away in the Shinigami that is.

I think that Kishi had planned all these from the start. Why did he choose to not bring back Naruto's father anyway in that fight?

I believe he had thought of the idea that Minato used Shiki Fuujin to seal Kurama, the same jutsu that Hiruzen used to seal Shodaime and Nidaime. Hiruzen even said in that fight that Shiki Fuujin is Yondaime's jutsu.
