Yes, and I know that. But when someone says "That's gay" to mean something is stupid, they aren't saying it as an attack to the homosexual community. They aren't saying that to offend the homosexual community, they aren't saying it to reference the homosexual community. A homosexual person getting offended at someone "That's gay" as to mean stupid or lame is making something that's not about them about them.

Nowadays NO ONE(except some grannies I guess) uses the word gay unless he means a homosexual person. We do not live in the fifties anymore.

I could probably find hundreds of people in my school alone that say "That's gay" without alluding to gay people.

It is used for both homosexuals and lame shit in this day and age, but it does not connect the two. The two usages are not connected. I don't see why you can't grasp that. Forcing a connection between the two is the real homophobic attack.

How can it be a homophobic slur when the meaning of it used doesn't allude to homosexual people, nor does the word "gay" exclusively and solely mean "homosexual." It's just a connection that isn't really there, but people attempt to force their through misinterpretation and misunderstanding.
