About five minutes ago, I walked into a gamestop wanting to sell Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty Ghosts. The games have been played at minimum of fours times and not for a very long time. These games were not very entertaining for me, so they sat in my basement on a shelf unplayed for about a month. I looked on their website and they are selling both games for forty dollars each. I assumed that I would get at least a decent amount money from these two unplayed games. I was wrong. I received six dollars for Battlefield 4 and ten dollars for Call of Duty Ghosts. I know gamestop happens to be very cheap, but I never imagined they would stoop so low. What are your thoughts?

They were always like this, there's no point of selling it to them.

That's how all business' works when they are paying you cash. They buy for 1/2 of 1/2 what they sell for.

That's how businesses work. If you walked in there expecting anything more than 25% of the selling price, you're a fool.

This is true for any business dealing in used goods.

It's called making a profit. These games probably cost $1 to make and they're selling them exponentially more.

If they gave you more how would they gain money as a business?

I don't know why you didn't just keep them after they told you what they'd give you for the games. Could've sold online for more tbh

Why did you sell it to them for that price anyways? Should have went on eBay, Amazon, or some other place. Heck, go on the streets or inside a mall be like "ANYONE WANT SOME VIDEO GAMES?!"

The physical burning of the material on to the CD costs infinitesimally less than the selling price.

It's the production of the material that is expensive. Compared to the number of CDs produced and sold, the individual cost of each CD is far far less than the selling cost.

I'm not talking about making the CD. I was talking about making the game. Developing, all that.

Yes, I am aware. But I'm pretty sure the man you quoted was talking about the individual price of making the CD itself.

you are dumb as hell for selling it to gamestop anyways. I always craigslist my games for 30 bucks when they cost 40 bucks new. people will buy the used games for 10 dollars cheaper instead of 2 dollars cheaper from gamestop. so thats your own fault for selling the game to them. And stop saying how they are so "Unplayed". It doesnt matter if it was played or not. once you bought it and opened the package, its value went straight to whatever gamestop paid you for it that instant.

He said "games probably cost $1 to make" so I'm going to assume he means making the actual game until he fixes his wording to say otherwise.
