Can someone help me, I recently downloaded vlc player and I have a problem with it, what I'm saying is that well firstly I record tv shows using windows media centre, some of the recordings are in hd and some are in sd, for some reason when I watch the hd recordings on vlc player the audio doesn't work but when I watch the sd recordings on the vlc player the audio works, could someone explain to me how I can get the audio on vlc player to work for my hd recordings.

You sure it's not the problem with the video itself?

Have you tried playing the HD video on a different program?

Either You have to re-install it or your PC/Laptop is lacking a HD Plug-in

Check if there's more than one audio track, perhaps there's an empty one and VLC plays that one by default.

Ive tried everything possible but nothing works the only recordings that I play on vlc player that have audio are the sd recordings also if I may add I'm wondering if the reason I'm having audio problems in the vlc player could be because the recorded videos are in WTV format but then that wouldn't make sense cause as I said the sd recordings are fine the audio works but I'm not having any sort of luck getting audio for my hd recordings.

You can try it out with MPC-HC. It is powerful as VLC and more lighter.

you may want to download it again cuz it could be corrupted for some reason last time you downloaded .... so any audio codecs might be missing
