This is a theory which strongly links to Doflamingo's and Corazon's past
So far we know that:
- Doflamingo and Corazon lost their mother during their childhood
- Doflamingo killed their father two years later
- Doflamingo and Corazon left Mariejois soon after
- Corazon ranked as one of the five elite officers along side Vergo, Pica, Diamante and Trebol under the command of his elder brother
Doflamingo said (can't find the scan :|) that Vergo has been with him ever since Doflamingo became a pirate.
So we can see that Vergo was there from the very beginning.
Next: all of Doflamingo's subordinates call him "young lord". This refers to him as being their "master". The Tenryuubito had a lot of slaves. And this is why I think that all of the Donquixote Elites were slaves freed by Doflamingo and Corazon. (Excluding Vergo, but I'll get onto that later)
Look at trebol here:
He carries a scepter around and wears shackles around his feet. This is an interesting symbolism. Personally I see it as a representation of Trebol being a slave to the World Nobles.
Other symbolisms:
Another thing they all have in common is that they're all Devil Fruit users (except Machvise as far as we know). These guys may have been fed the Devil Fruits by the Tenryuubito to amuse and entertain them. This is the same reason as to why Boa Hancock and her sisters were given Devil Fruits.
AND if we go even further:
Donquixote Pirates have the Jolly Roger marked on their bodies somewhere. Like the Sun pirates it could be a way to hide their slave mark.
Finally: I see Vergo to be more like a Butler than a slave.
- He's very formal
- Very good posture
- No devil fruit (only slaves would be fed these!)
So in conclusion I think that almost all of the Donquixote family worked for the Tenryuubito before Doflamingo and Corazon fled from Mariejois.
- Doflamingo = Former Tenryuubito
- Corazon = Former Tenryuubito
- Vergo = Their families Butler
- Pica = Former Slave
- Diamante = Former Slave
- Trebol = Former Slave
- Sugar = Former Slave
- Dellinger = Inconclusive
- Machvise = Former Guard/Slave?
- Jora = Inconclusive
- Lao G = Inconclusive
- Buffalo = Former Slave
- Baby 5 = Former Slave
- Monet = Inconclusive
Your thoughts? Do you like the idea of the Donquixote Family being former slaves themselves?

Sugar is seen wearing a crown
Pica is seen wearing chains and armour (fighting to entertain the nobles, perhaps?)
Baby 5 is dressed in maid/cleaner attire
Machvise is in a guards uniform
