Is it senju chakra or DNA needed to awaken the rinnegan?

I've seen quite a few people say Uchiha Chakra + Senju Chakra = Rinnegan, but isn't it Uchiha DNA + Senju DNA = Rinnegan ?

If it's Senju Chakra that is needed, then wouldn't the user exhaust it? Because as far as I am concerned, your body can only produce one type of Chakra and that's not going to change; with DNA it might because then you have the genetic instruction to make Senju Chakra alongside Uchiha.

There's no proof that the Sharingan is even needed to achieve Rinnegan status, after the revaluation of Asura and Indra.

What would have happened if Hashirama had taken some of Madaras chakra, as opposed to the other way around? He might have gained the Rinnegan just the same, without even developing the sharingan.

Kabuto might have been wrong when he assumed that the rinnegan is a natural evolution of the sharingan, since he didn't know about the chakra.

That's false. Neither Naruto nor Sasuke have any of Asura or Indra's actual DNA.

When you take someone's DNA, you get their chakra.
