Yea but the fact you singled out America in the title, and didnt even post something that you can prove happened in America. It's not like gun being dangerous in a specific place needs to be addressed, it's a universal law guns are dangerous no matter where you are.

People are dangerous.

If I chose to, I could kill upwards of twenty people with a knife within the next hour if I wanted to. It's quiet and draws less attention than a firearm. Though a firearm does give me a bit more parity with the police, should they show up. With the training I have, I'd be more than a match for the initial responders. The SWAT team would eventually get me, depending upon my location and my ammunition (the mistake most armed gunmen make is trying to "hold the fort" - a mobile man is much more difficult to pin down).

But people with my training don't slaughter the general population. The worst we do is start a revolution.

The idea that you can prevent people from owning firearms is about as sensible as the idea that you are going to prevent people from shooting up heroine. The only thing a law can do is make it one hell of a profitable business for the criminal element.

Now, in each of the instances proposed, an armed citizen (or victim) could have intervened. I don't put up with such behavior in my surroundings. If some goon thinks he's going to interrupt my peaceful life by waving a firearm around - I'll use whatever weapon is most suited to the situation to put an end to the interruption.

What is my alternative? To let the guy with the boom-stick do whatever he wants until the police get their shit together and surround the place? Then he just gets to take someone hostage and I hope the police can figure out how to settle it "without death?"

**** that douchebag from the moment he starts causing problems. The police can fill out a report and escort him to the hospital and/or notify the coroner.

The idea that some politician is going to be my savior by telling me what I can and cannot buy is completely and totally asinine.

Well you need a background check that take almost 2 weeks to purchase a gun a background check done by federal government if you have so much as a in paid parking ticket or some weak shit like that you can't buy a gun so no not everyone can buy a gun""""""legally"""""" being the main word here. Guys ILEGALLY you can get away with it ok wonder why you didn't pos a link of when GOOD GUYS have guns huh? Like when a 12 years old girls home alone and 2 convicted felons break into the house and she grabs her dads shot gun and shoots them both and nothing life threatening or Traumatizing happens to her?! Or when a man walks into a diner to kill his ex boss a woman takes out her handgun from her purse and who's him saving the guys life?! Now with that's said"""""GUNS""""" don't kill people ok people kills people doesn't matter what they do he could have stab the taxi driver wih a kitchen knife but why aren't people saying filet knife a bad?? 2 amendment of our Constitution gives us the right to ""bare arm"" because our forefathers realized we NEED to protect ourselves from foreign and domestic threats. Look at places like Isreal then look and Sudan wear would you rather live then tell me which country has the strictest gun laws? And yes so I don't have to post again I have a gun .38 Special Bulldog that I keep in a lock box under my bed that myself and wife only ones to know code and we both know how to use it. And if one day I somehow lose myself and try to kill an innocent I only pray that Someone else who has a gun is there to stop me

How long have you been under the illusion they weren't dangerous? To everyone saying that guns are only dangerous when in the hands of certain men and women, that is utterly ridiculous. A gun is a gun, no matter who is holding it. Like all other weapons, they all have the capacity to kill, it doesn't matter who is in possession of such a weapon, that weapon will always be able to kill someone. Be it a sword, gun or even a small knife, they can all kill someone.

OT: What happened in that link is unfortunate, it only serves as more reason to ban guns in America.

While I get what you're saying, knifes have a purpose other than hurting people like guns

A firearm is easily a tool for entertainment. There are plenty of people who have social events at shooting ranges. Everyone goes out, has fun putting lead down range into a paper target (or clay targets slung through the air), and no one is harmed.

I'll put this issue into perspective for you:

The numbers are absolutely astronomical. Civilian ammunition consumption accounts for hundreds of millions of rounds annually.

How many people die in the U.S. from criminal firearm use? less than 10,000.

The data clearly shows the trend of firearm homicide on the decline in the U.S. The most likely murder weapon is a handgun and the most likely offender is a person aged 17-23 in a city with a population over 100,000.

Basically, the antithesis of the 'gun nut.'

Most of the firearms used in crime are obtained illegally and in ways that simply can't be impacted by more restrictive firearm legislation - it is like saying you are going to make it harder to buy marijuana by making it harder to get approved for medical marijuana use. All it does is make it harder for the people who only care to use it legitimately go about their daily lives.

It also makes the people who are willing to run guns illegally very, very wealthy - because they can charge a premium for their service. The harder it gets for the average person to get the things they want - the more those things will appear in criminal circles.

Of course, let me tell you why I am willing to kill over this issue:

A little town called Athens, TN.

Basically, the local authorities had built a tyrannical government and were rigging elections with their own private army.

This was in the U.S.

Multiple letters were sent to State and National authorities seeking an intervention - to bring in an outside team to moderate and oversee the election. None were ever answered.

Despite the fact that two company sized units of armed men faced off against each other over a few hours of fighting, no one died. Despite the fact that it was a literal rebellion - there was no mass slaughtering by the 'rebels.'

This is why we -must- have the right to our firearms. It would be exceptionally naive to believe this is the only case of institutionalized voting fraud and rigged elections in our country - and it is exceptionally naive to believe that those who currently enjoy the power they have will turn it down so easily.

Case in point:

This is the -same- evaluation system used by the VA... the one that encouraged falsifying records to maintain funding levels and resulted in veterans dying (because the VA wasn't enough of an abomination to begin with - there's a reason I will never admit myself to one).

And... the experts/analysts are saying: "Uh... very, VERY bad idea, guys. Holy shit. It will do the exact opposite of what you are claiming it will."

And our government's response? "**** you, we do what we want!"

So. Yeah. You say firearms are dangerous... but then you elect man children with dictatorial mindsets and laud them for centralizing power. I'd rather deal with a few armed psychos than one in command of a nation's resources, able to threaten people with starvation for not complying with his orders (already, the military is seeing its upper chains become a scarily corrupt bunch of politicians who have a better set of knee-pads than anything else... and it's starting to affect the lower ranks, particularly as our forces draw down).

Question:

Killing people is banned, yes?

I cannot kill other people. Correct? It is forbidden for me to do so. We wrote laws that say I am not allowed to kill people.

Final Question:

What manner of stupidity suggests that, if we are prohibited from killing people in the first place, a new law stating that we are prohibited from owning firearms will prevent us from owning firearms and killing each other with them?
