I am a male feminist. Well, I claim to be one. In my own way.

I don't ever watch porn because it devalues and objectifies women.

I don't condone cultural and religious traditions that devalue, restrict/enslave women in any way. Instead of making girls wear a burka, teach boys not to objectify women.

I always keep in mind how would I want my daughter or sister to be approached and treated by a male and I go by that.

Oh, and I don't listen to garbage mainstream music that indirectly promotes objectifying women and rape culture. I carefully read between the lines of the lyrivs.

It only objectifies women if you the viewer choose to view her as a *** object and nothing more, that is an issue with the viewer not the content. What about the men involved how come people don't claim it devalues men or objectifies men? because it does!! male pornstars are impacting our social culture by setting an unrealistic precedent for the male body, don't forget that females also watch pornography although statistically not as much as men but that has it's reasons as well.

Men are objectified in western culture! How many times has a guy felt insecure because of an off the cuff comment from a woman about penis size or other physical attributes men should supposedly possess? Women are just as guilty as objectifying men as men are of objectifying women. Women stare at mens groins and asses just as often as men stare at tits and ass women are just more subtle about it. If a man is weak and feels insecure the defense is usually to call or think of a female as a **** its a negative response to a negative stimulus and entirely human.

This whole issue about inequality is only perpetuated by labels like "feminist". In order to create decent human beings you need to teach them how to think rationally and critically, that is where the change needs to start. You can take away pornography or violence on tv or videogames or music but those aren't what's causing the problems, people need to be taught how to process information in a logical rational way that is unobstructed by emotion and prejudice.

Sure. Males are also victim of the programming. But they're not oppressed, threatened, raped, taken for granted as much as women. However, I agree with you on the unnecessary label of feminist which only creates even more categorization and keeps us from going straight to the core of the issue. Anywho, why I mentioned the music industry is because it programs the youth subconsciously to behave or rationalize a certan way. Peer pressure spreads the virus (sometimes). Hence, a rapper needs money, cars, drugs and ofcourse; "*****es".

Men are trained to be the aggressor/user..women to be a product. And the dark thing is, when they become a victim, they're thaught by the media and people in general(not always obv) that they should blame themselves for looking too sexy. Which, to me, is avoiding the core of the issue.
