Question about Naruto vs Pain

K this might be kinda late and it really doesn't matter to the storyline or anything. It's just Naruto's choice of action confused me. Check out this page of the manga:

This is right after Naruto has his natural chakra sucked out of him by Preta Pain and Preta turns into a toad statue. Why didn't Naruto just absorb some more natural energy to become a sage again? Deva Pain was just standing there amazed so Naruto would have had plenty of time to go back into Sage mode before breaking free from Toad Preta statue. Then he could've made a Kage Bunshin quickly to snatch Fukasaku from Bansho Tenin and with his real body he could've landed a solid punch to Deva Path's face since he was already using his power and wouldn't have been able to blast him away with Shinra Tensei.

I guess it was just a stupid way to get Naruto subdued so he and Pain could have a conversation and also so Hinata could confess her love. But I still think it was retarded.

If that would have happened... the following chapters would have been VERY boring.

1 punch from sage mode naruto= dead pain bodies... so getting rid of deva pain like that would have screwed the following chapters.

A man who destroyed Konoha to get to Naruto and knows about Sage mode, isn't going to let him just stand there getting ready to turn into sage mode again. There are so many alternate endings to all battles. Just because you don't like the outcome doesn't make Kishimoto a retard. Otherwise Asuma was a retard for being scratched, and Sarutobi for giving his life to seal two hands. Untill someone comes up with a look-into-the-future no jutsu you shouldn't bash on retards afterwards.

they are always waiting for smth, telling enemy everything about theyr abilitys, attacking from behind and screaming in the same time technique they are about to use so enemy could hear him comming from behind

It still take's time to properly balance it. There's no gurantee that he would done so in time and the Bansho Tenin on Pa would have unsettled Naruto anyway.

Asuma wasn't very strong anyway (at least if he was it wasn't shown) and Sarutobi was old enough to be let go. And Pain was just gawking. Well the frog song was going to happen one way or another and Pain was keeping an eye on that. Then again you could ask alot of things that happened earlier in the fight.

He couldn't have gone into SM until he broke free of Preta Path because he was absorbing the chakra as Naruto took it in.
