This is my first post here so excuse me for choosing what may or may not be an unpopular opinion to post about.
Based on current showings it would appear Sasuke's rinnegan allows him to teleport himself and others and possibly tele-swap himself with objects. His ability has a limited range, and possibly limited uses depending on the validity of the theory that his tomo visibly disappearing during the course of that fight was the result of his usage of the technique and not simply an art error.
Based on this I can only conclude the following possibilities:
- He's not simply teleporting, he's using a more complex ability that simply allows him the option of teleporting or doing something that looks like teleporting (possibly something like izanagi though I somewhat speculate that it could be something involving the yin nature of his So6P power, possibly making himself and other object exist in a different location than they originally were entirely)
- His teleportation has greater implications than what we've seen (as of yet, kamui is a far more versatile and useful s/t jutsu)
- The teleportation is only one of several doujutsu-based abilities his Rinnegan has granted him that we have yet to see (emphasis on doujutsu-based, the teleporting is the only thing we've seen that is directly linked to his new eye, please do not mention his other powers he's shown so far as being the result of the eye)
- Kishi has seriously failed to deliver an original technique for that eye, honestly we just had an entire battle sequence and several key points during the clash with Madara that relied on teleportation jutsu and honestly FTG is far from being inferior to that technique as it stands (they both have ways in which they are superior to the other). This is the pinnacle of doujutsu we're talking about, the technique it grants should not be at all comparable to anything pre-existing, and that's setting aside the fact that adding another straight teleportation-themed jutsu is just kind of boring.
I'm personally leaning toward the first or second possibility. The only thing he's shown so far is being able to see through IT and the teleporting, and if it's straight teleporting and nothing else, that's a very random, slap-dash, and frankly lazy ability to just throw in there as part of the powerset of the pinnacle of doujutsu. So it's either part of a set of abilities or far more likely it and the ability to see through IT are both encompassed within a single power he now possesses based on Yin-release. I say that because it's already been theorized by Sasuke himself that Yin is the reason for him not being affected by IT and his Susanoo being able to shield the others from it, and as I said above, it would make alot more sense for the teleportation to be only one of many potential applications of Sasuke's Yin-based abilities.
Sidenote: is anyone else wondering why sasuke hasn't used any of the basic rinnegan abilities yet, or wondering if he is even able to use said abilities (inb4 he doesn't need to use them in this fight... they have their usefulness even against someone of Madara's caliber).
