Just noticed that.

Honestly, the "Including NB" is a little annoying since something artificial can actually ruin the beauty of a picture >_< But it´s just my opinion.

That´s true as well.

Another way to prove a picture is taken by you is to have the same thing in the picture taken from a different angle.

Except if you find pictures on the internet about the same thing of different angles...Photographers often take a series of pictures on the same thing

Well, without NB thingy it would be much easier to take a photo, that's true; However, that would also mean that anyone could easily steal a photo from the internet. It's just ridiculous how many people steal art in the contest Art of the Month. I think that this would be even worse.

Also, in my opinion, NB thingy makes this contest unique and, at the same time, represent a challenge for all participants.

*Submission and Voting

On forums where I was hosting monthly contests submission period usually started first day of the month and lasted till the last week of the month. That last week of the month was reserved for the voting.

But, honestly, if the host sees that certain period of time is too long or too short, it's the best that the host, Akasha, decides herself what is the best.

Posting images excluding NB is no challenge. Besides how do we exactly know IF it is your submission if you leave nb out? It's just like a hashtag.

I dont see a reason for it to be open. The only other open contests decided by votes are the art and fanfic contests, for the obvious reason that people post their arts and fanfics anyway, so no point in hiding the names. Which is not the case here.
