Was Obito's Rinnegan explanation necessary?

Before this chapter, we all assumed that the reason for Obito implanting only one Rinnegan was so that he could continue to use Kamui while having access to Rinnegan techs. Obviously he was very proficient with using his MS, so why would he ever give it up? More-over, why would Obito bother implanting only one Rinnegan if he didn't have access to the six paths? Obviously with only one Rinnegan he could still use the basic techniques, otherwise it would have been pointless to implant it.

Kishi having Obito state that the real reason was because he couldn't handle it makes little sense to me. Are we supposed to believe that an 8 year old Nagato is more capable than a Juubi Jin? I think not. If you ask me, it was simply a way to give Madara an upgrade that didn't exist before. Kishi originally limited the Rinnegan to 6 simple techniques, but now that he needs to give Madara a final upgrade, he's fluffing up the Rinnegan to be superior in the hands of the original wielder.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with double-Rinnegan Madara getting an upgrade, but don't try to add depth to the story where its not needed. It makes much more sense that Obito took on only one Rinnegan so that he could continue to use Kamui, not because he couldn't handle it.
I respectfully disagree with your logic, and I will respectfully say that it make no sense given manga facts.

(1) Kakashi was a grown Jonin, but he still had to cover his sharingan (3T) and he fainted when the MS was unlocked
(2) Kakashi was still covering a single MS and limited in number of shot while the little Sasuke was spamming a pair of MS.

These two facts prove that age is not the determining factor in using those dojutsus.

(3) Now, when Madara was Edo tensei, he said that his power was limited, yet he was using almost all the six path techniques.
(4) After he was revived and even with the Juubi and Hashirama's power, Madara is still not showing the power of Rinnegan that we know.

These (3) and (4) proves that the number of eyes is determining factor for Rinnegan just like the Sharingan.

Now, after analyzing these facts, there are two logical conclusion that come out:

(C1-1) Based on first conclusion, it appears that the Uzumaki may actually be the natural owner of the Rinnegan because they can handle it even as 12 years old kid just like the Uchiha can handle the Sharingan.

(C1-2) Base again on the first conclusion, we can conclude that Rinnegan is neither a normal Uchiha power, nor a normal Senju power, and also that neither Madara's power alone nor Hashirama's power alone can control it. In fact, just like Hagoromo said, Madara went crazy after awakening it, and it is clear that he gave it to Nagato because he could not control it.

(C2-1) Kishi may be sending a strong signal to the Sasuketard to tell them that they should go easy on their hope for Sasuke's so called uncommon Rinnegan.

(C2-2/C1-3) Kishi may be sending a strong signal to the fanbase to alert them that the last Uzumaki, Naruto Uzumaki's Rinnegan is coming very soon. Yeah, we still don't know the original source of Rinnegan - that is no one has awakened it on his own after Hagoromo. We don't know how Hagoromo got it, and Naruto is pretty much the one who is acting right now like someone who has rinnegan.

These conjectures are straight from looking carefully at what happened in 674 and 675, especially after Sasuke was found acting like kakashi. The Sasuketards may get ready to see Sasuke covering his left eye.

Thats what i already assumed, that he couldnt handle the chakra drain. Afterall look what happened to Nagatos Body after using Both. And hes an Uzumaki. Obito doesnt need to be crippled after a few force pushes and soul stealing.

nagato was full blood uzumaki.. ofcourse he could handle it.
But the true power of the eyes is when the original owner has both of the eyes.
It's not just the eyes.. it's the body, or maybe more specific the brain.

This poses an Interesting question. Considering the above, How was Obito even relevant in Madara's revival plan ? Madara would have achieved the same with Nagato making Obito's role completely worthless. If Madara could forcibly force Nagato to revive him via the curse seal, how does Obito even come in the picture?

It is very curious as to why Madara bothered with Obito when he had Nagato. The best answer, imo, is that he had not yet approached Nagato. Therefore, he had to wait until Nagato was older to try to completely manipulate him to his side. He likely set up the Leaf attack on his house, but he probably planned more down the line. Since Obito came into the picture later, he likely thought Obito could take care of all that for him. So no, if Madara's plan was truly without flaws, he didn't actually need Obito, Obito just made it easier.

Your age analysis is incorrect because Sasuke is an Uchiha and Kakashi is not. Clearly, if Sasuke was older with larger reserves of chakra, he would be able to handle the affects even more.

Uzumaki the natural owner of Rinnegan? We got another Uzumaki fan out there. No, its a natural UCHIHA thing that simply requires Senju DNA. To say it belongs to the Uzumaki is insane considering its a natural progression of Sharingan.

Are you serious? Madara didn't give his Rinnegan to Nagato because he couldn't control it. He gave it to him BECAUSE HE WAS GONNA DIE. He knew it was possible to be revived with the Rinnegan so he gave it up for his own sake. He handled it just fine, considering he brought forth the Gedo Mazo and made all these preparations.

Nagato was uzamaki. Uzamaki = Senju. Senju > Uchiha. Simple.

considering you just answered your own question bringing up why readers initially thought Obito stuck with using one, yeah, i'd say it was pretty freaking necessary when one stops to actually think about why Madara has been on such a mission to get both of his own eyes back since 657 :what:

You guys are partially correct. The reason Kakashi can switch inbetween the Mangekyou and 3-tomoe, is because Obito had awakened the Mangekyou while the eye was in Kakashi's socket. Kakashi doesn't have the required brain-eye connection that allows the Uchiha to fuel their power. The eyes are always connected to the brain, allowing the owner to upgrade without even having the eyes, and is why Madara can use Susano'o without eyes, the power comes from his brain, and the technique does not require eye contact.

I think this is half of the explanation, or even a wrong interpretation. If all the power comes from the brain, then Kakashi should not use the Sharingan. Thus, the right way to see it is as a follows:

1. First view

The Sharingan itself is from the eye. The power of the Sharingan is also from the eye. However, it needs a triggering chakra from the brain to activate it. Once it is activated, it can be control by the same chakra that comes from the brain, switch on or off.

The only problem with this view is Madara using Susanoo without eyes. However, if we admit that Susanoo is actually generated by the body and manipulated better by the eyes, then it will make sense.

2. Power generated by the brain, but can be store in the eyes.

In this case, everything comes from the brain, but one can store the power temporary or permanently in the eyes. This can support how Kakashi could received Obito's eye, and how Madara can give his eyes to Nagato.

If we admit that the power comes only from the brain, but cannot be stored in the eyes, then Kakashi and Nagato would become a counter example.

Conclusion

(1) Power generated by the brain, and (2) can be store in the eyes permanently. Then (3) once stored in the eyes, anyone either Uchiha or non-Uchiha can control it with their own will.
