All That is Left
For many years, I wondered what might have been,
had I not made some of the choices I did,
had I not said some of the things I had said,
had I not hurt the people I hurt,
had I not loved someone, and become an emotionless husk.
Some days, I just wanted it all to end,
for me to leave this world, in atonement for my actions,
for what I did, for what I said, I carry self-hatred on my shoulders,
for how many years I’ve carried it, and will carry it, I cannot say,
all I know is, that I will never be forgiven, and that I am only a burden to them,
to the ones I loved and could call my friends.
From back then, to this very day and moment,
all I wanted was to be happy, to be a good person,
but I now know, that I am beyond that point now,
I am not a good person, I am not a true friend,
and all that is left, is the tortured soul of a broken boy.
