Marriage is a ritual between men and women .simple as that .Gays can create their own ritual /ceremony if they want to ,but asking for something created for men and women as "their rights "make no sense to me.

Like banto said ,maybe they want the rights that comes with marriage .In that case they should ask for those kind of rights not the concept of marriage to be allowed Imo.

I'm sure all the natives that held pagan marital rituals for same-*** couples for centuries disagree with you on that one.

I think it's pretty simple about marriage, it's not a choice we make because it's their life.
I mean you have to respect some rules in a society like everybody does and as long as gay-marriage is completely acceptable in a society then I'd think, why do you not marry?

There are many legal benefits of a state recognized marriage ... from basic spousal rights to tax benefits etc.

i think and feel that they have a right to get married, i saw a couple that one of them passed away and thier family gets to keep that persons belongings( property , cash, etc) will go to the family that hated the fact that thier son/daugther was gay to begin with ...not the partner after spending 30 plus years with that person. civil marriage would stop that from happening , they dont need to get marreied by the church

Not exactly their business coz it's the state that provides the law and administration for marriage, so I think it's just as much the business of legislation. Of course some countries allow it, it's ok, some countries dont allow it, fine.

The dont have to be married to prove anything. Marriage by def is union between man and women only so technically speaking there marraige would not make sense. nothijng is stopping them from moving in together and being a family how come gays want to be married when that is just a bunch of papers it dosent really prove anything. It would also raise no legall controvery. what do you guys have to say on this subject.
