Goddamn training grounds. A new experience every time. It disgusted, yet fascinated him all the same, to walk through the masses of shinobis that all seemed to be grinding towards some worthless, repetitive goal.
Was that really it? Was that all it was nowadays, just a mere place that people gathered to commune and learn, then simply left without a second thought? Too reminiscent of the "most photographed barn in the world".

No matter. It was no cause for concern. Adachi had other duties at hand. Arriving at the agreed spot, he nodded a quick acknowledgment to his would-be student as he tossed the wooden bokken in his hands towards her.

Not one for introductions, he cut straight to the point. "Take some time to grasp that weapon. Give it a few swings, then inform me why it might be your desire to learn Kenjutsu." He shoved his hands nonchalantly into the folds of his pocket.

Michonne looks at Adachi, and slowly takes her hand out to take the sword. She then elevates it above her head, and swings it downward swiftly multiple times. Afterwards, she turns to her Sensei and states her reason, "I have a love for Kenjutsu, swinging a sword soothes me, it makes me feel conplete. It's also very interesting to engage in sword fights, due to the unpredictability of your opponent. It never bores me, that's why I came here. I hope to be the greatest swordsman there ever was", as she stated this, every word was uttered with complete and total passion.

I hope to be the greatest swordsman there ever was. Though his face disclosed no sign of his thoughts, Adachi chuckled inwardly at the proclaimed words. Young, naive fools, the lot of them. He had seen so many come and go, with nearly every one beginning with the exact same disposition. Bright. Hopeful. Immature. God forbid the Ninja World to be so cruel to them.

He nodded to Michonne's answer - it made sense, at the very least. The aethestic aspect of the sword, the fact that Kenjutsu was an art itself seemed to be a detail forgotten to many. "I see."

Backing off a few feet from she was currently standing, Adachi then formed the Tiger handseal, resulting in the summoning of a single clone exactly reminiscent of its creator. "Sight your sights on this clone, and gauge your distance from him," he then instructed. "I want you try to slice him in half, targeting what you think you may be a vital area for any opponent. Use one hand only and keep in mind the stance you choose."

Michonne takes the sword and jumps back in her typical sword play stance, she grasps the sword with her right hand, and her right hand only, prepared to bisect the clone. She moves in a gallop like stance retainimg her posture and stance, then swiftly advances on the clone. She moves to the right, ducks down, and shoves her sword in what would be the heart area, aftereards she takes her sword and impales it in the ground, "So...?"

Adachi nodded slowly, his eyes carefully scrutinizing his student's every move. The clone poofed abruptly. "Wise choice regarding usage of dominant hand though might I say I am rather puzzled at your choice of stabbing your sword into my clone's heart," he stated. "I did ask you to slice him in half, did I not? That would consist more of a swing using your wrist rather than the entirety of your arm. "

Another clone materialized before Michonne as Adachi furthered his explanation: "Stabbing forward with your sword like that is potentially dangerous, with one or two hands. You are essentially putting your entire body weight into your stance, forcing yourself forwards. If there is nothing to stop you, or if you miss your target, you could potentially lose your balance. Now, I want you to try one more time, but with a two-handed strike now. Aim for a 45 degree cut anywhere you wish on my clone."

"Ah, you're right! I was supposed to bisect it, shit..." she says embarassingly. Michonne looks at the newly formed clone, she then dashes to her left, holding her katana in that one hand, she quickly jumps in the air, using her left arm to grab the upper part, she aims at the chest area. Coming down fast, Michonne strikes the left shoulder initially, but gradually slashes diagnally, halting when she reaches the 45 degrer limit. She fixes her posture immidiately, then places her katana on the ground, cupping her hands.

"Ah, you're right! I was supposed to bisect it, shit..." she says embarassingly. Michonne looks at the newly formed clone, she then dashes to her left, holding her katana in that one hand (which hand? <_<) , she quickly jumps in the air, using her left arm to grab the upper part (you mean the hilt?), she aims at the chest area. Coming down fast, Michonne strikes the left shoulder initially, but gradually slashes diagnally, halting when she reaches the 45 degree limit (I meant to cut at a 45 degree angle, not sure what you mean by angle. o_o). She fixes her posture immidiately, then places her katana on the ground, cupping her hands.
Adachi watched his student deliver a rather effort-accentuated strike to his clone, essentially ending its short-termed life. "Good execution," he commented a matter-of-factly. "However, let us take a short break." Reaching towards the pouch on his right side, he pulled out a water bottle, tossing it towards his student.

"When you feel that you've taken enough of a breather," Adachi further instructed. "I'd like you to tell me what you think are the major differences between an one-handed strike a two-handed strike and what circumstances might be suitable for the usage of either one."

After Michonne drinks from the bottle Adachi gave her, she puts it to her side and flips her hair to her right side. "One-handed sword usage would apply to faster paced Kenjutsu battles, as seeing you have one free hand to do what you wish. It enables you to get a quick hit, but nothing too severe. While two-handed usage is more of a fatal wound sword-play. The user uses two hands to increase their striking force on the opponent, putting in that amount of brute force with the intention to kill. It would only be suited for a finishing, or strong blow, as seeing you temporarily leave yourself open to a strike. Am I along the lines..?" Michonne asks, not sure is she's right.

The response was quick, and to the point. Adachi nodded in approval. "Let me add to a bit of that," he continued. "One-handed does indeed let you strike faster, but also frees up your other hand for usage. You can form single handseals or pull out ninja tools as well. However, as you mentioned, it definitely is not as stronger as two-handed. You mention that such an attack also leaves you open to a strike, and you are correct. The reasoning behind this is because you are placing your entire body weight into that one strike, potentially allowing yourself to be knocked out of balance more easily."

Upon finishing those words, his hands came together to form the Tiger handseal, creating a single clone about five meters from Michonne. "Gauge your distance between you and your clone," Adachi instructed. "Take note of the stance you take, and once you believe you are ready, close the distance rapidly and proceed to strike my clone as many as times as you wish with the wooden bokken. These can either be one-handed or two, and don't forget to focus on the area that you choose. Once you believe you've reached the pinnacle of damage dealing, erase my clone's existence with one final, powerful strike."

Michonne examines the distance between her and the clone, Hm, roughly five meters..I can close this pretty fast, she then grabs the wooden sword with her right hand, gripping it firmly. Ready, set, go! She then makes a swift movement toward the clone, about a meter away, she grips the sword even tenser than before. I'll fight with one hand, then give the final blow with a strong finishing blow. She chooses to focus on the upper body area, using the flat side of the wooden sword, she strikes the clone in the upper-middle part of it's chest, located a couple inches under the neck. Flipping back, she takes the blunt side, and strikes the area again in diagnol slash. Going in for the final blow, she takes her left hand and places it right above her right one. "HERE WE GOOOO!!" she screams, just as she impales the clone. After the clone disperses, she stabs the sword in the ground, firmly keeping it in place, she begins to lean on it. "How was that?"

The performance...was indeed rather intense. Adachi's clone poofed without another word as Michonne let out a sigh of accomplishment, leaning onto her sword to gaze at her sensei. "How was that?" she questioned.

"Interesting usage of the blunt side of the sword," Adachi commented. "Otherwise, excellently executed. Take note that the enemy in most circumstances would not allow you to strike them at such a fast and strong pace, even more so even touch them, so take countermeasures when necessary and maintain your balance." He formed the Tiger seal to bring yet another clone into existence. "Now, this next technique utilizes some of your brute power. Begin by running at my clone, executing several swift punches and then finish him off with two slashes of your weapon. Either chose to keep your bokken sheathed and use both hands at first, or one hand and the other holding the bokken itself. Keep in mind which hand you choose to punch my clone along with your positioning and aim."

Michonne nods at Adachi, then puts her bokken in her left hand, prepared to punch with the right. She swiftly dashes towards the clone, taking her right hand, she punches it right above the stomach, then she twirls punching it in the neck, dominantly the throat. Not finished using her brute strength, she goes underneath, aiming for a strong-right uppercut, her fists connects with the jaw perfectly. Sending it upwards, she jumps in the air along with it. She swings her left arm diagonally across the left shoulder, starting at the collar bone, then proceeds to do it to the right one. After the clone disperses, she lands on both feet, hurting her left ankle a bit. She fixes her posture and then ties her hair back in a bun, putting her headband on. "That was a little difficult"

Full of passion and vigor to advance her knowledge, Michonne executed the instructions her Sensei gave with no hesitation, and with energy - in fact, perhaps a bit too much energy. Landing somewhat roughly upon the ground, she shot her sensei a small grin as she straightened up, ready for the next technique.

Adachi crossed his arms in contemplation of the move his student had just executed. No doubt, it was well done, but there were definitely some flaws. "I admire the full usage of both your right and left hand," he said. "With one using pure, brute force to strike my clone and the other to deliver a single-handed strike, however, at this point, acrobatics in the air might be somewhat difficult, especially without enough physical practice." He paused briefly to reach towards the sword sheathed besides him, pulling it out with his right hand. Then without shifting his stance, Adachi swung it in a diagonal line in front of him, from his right to towards his left, but with much force. "Now, note, as I swung my sword downwards," he said to Michonne. "I am placing not only my strength, but my body weight into the attack. With body weight comes momentum which is propelled by gravity, and if any of these techniques are not utilized properly, it could seriously damage the body or leave an opening for the enemy as you may have lost control over your own balance. Whenever you deliver an airborne attack, you must assure that you equally balance the weight on both legs before landing back then - the easiest way to practice this would be to place your legs together and bend them slightly at the knees to equally sort out the weight distributed. With time, landing upon the ground should be second nature."

Adachi offered his student a small smile before creating another clone, this time a bit farther from Michonne. "Now, what I have just taught you comes in handy for our next technique. I want you to begin with a running start to build momentum - once close to my clone, proceed to launch yourself into the air but with your bokken in your hands. Once directly above him, proceed to drill him into the ground by pointing your weapon downwards and striking him directly from overhead. Remember that timing is also essential."

After Michonne listens to a complete, lecture about what she did good, she was happy that she got most of it done correctly, but hearing how she messed up irritated her, just a little. God damn it Michonne, get your shit together she told herself. Michonne looks as the miniature smile given to her by Adachi, she returns it with a wide grin, "I'll try not to mess up this time" she says confidently. She then turns around, and walks from the clone, the distance between them now is about five meters. Turning back around in a swift movement, she dashes for the clone. Michonne graps the Bokken in both hands, prepared for anything, she dashes towards the clone. When reaching the three meter mark, she jumps up in the air. While directly above him from an aerial point of view, she comes down fast. She points her bokken downward, she when's a little over a feet away from the top of his head, drilling in with her body weight and force. When the clone disperses, she continues to drill in the ground. Landing on both feet, with the bokken in the ground, she wipes beads of sweat from off her face, and smiles "How did I do?"

"Not bad," Adachi responded. "Before I set you on your next technique, I'd like to explain a bit more about this one. As I talked about body momentum earlier, it plays a significant role in the technique you just performed from timing your jump to pointing your blade down at your opponent. While this is definitely a fun move to use during fights, it also has a high risk factor. Whenever you are in the air during any jutsu or technique, you are basically succumbing yourself to gravity's mercy and the only point of acceleration, unless another force comes into play, is downwards. By jumping on top of your opponent, you not only expose yourself to danger, as being higher in the air makes you an easy target, but the position also makes it hard for you to dodge or escape any moves thrown at you as your body momentum can only go down. Now, this can easily be changed with a move from Wind or Earth, upon which if you would like further speculation, I would be more than glad to go into detail, however, I had simply liked to inform you of the risk and reward of the technique you just performed."

Silence fell between the two as Adachi allowed his student a short break before motioning for her to stay put where she was as he picked up two large, significant rocks from the ground. Walking across the training ground, he placed the first about two meters from Michonne, and then the second ten meters from the previous rock. "Take note of where I placed them," he told her. "This next technique uses a new concept of charging chakra into certain body parts. Mainly focused on the soles of your feet, this can come in handy in several different ways - firstly, if the ground you are standing upon is unsteady, by the cause of either your opponent or the fact you are riding a solid pillar throughout the year, charging your chakra on your feet allows you to remain balanced upon whatever you are standing upon. Secondly, is what we will be using in this next technique. The rock is about two meters away from your current position." He paused momentarily to create a clone that appeared next to the rock. "By sending chakra to your feet and then pushing off your heels for a running start, you can temporarily boost your speed, which should allow you cover the distance of two meters fairly quickly. Of course, charging your chakra can be extremely beneficial in various ways, but those two are the main concepts. So now, I'd like you to try this out. Send chakra to your feet, take an appropriate stance, and then launch yourself at my clone - strike him this time with handle of your sword and then follow up with several kicks that are measured in precise power to send my clone towards the second positioning of the rock. But before he touches ground, chakra boost once more to catch up to him and then punch him into a nearby tree. Once you are done, tell me what the significance of using the sword handle was along with a single way how chakra charging could help you in a fight."

Upon hearing Adachi's words, Michonne nods with understanding. She removes her pouch and sets it gently on the grass, taking a hair band from her pocket, she removes her headband and proceeds to put her hair in a bun. Putting it back on and tying it tighter than before, she takes in a deep breath, then exhales thoroughly. Grasping, then removing the Bokken on the ground, she continues to take three consecutive steps backwards. Preparing herself for this next sword technique, she carefully hides her excitement with a face of calmness and determination. With a passion in her eyes, she takes her left leg and puts it behind her right one, bending her right one's knee, she grasps her Bokken firmly in her right hand. Charging chakra into the soles of her feet, she launches herself at the clone with full force. She then flips her Bokken so that the end of it is downward, while the handle is up, after this she takes the end of the Bokken and hits the clone across the face. As it skids back a short distance, Michonne stabs her Bokken in the ground, and uses it as a medium to propel herself at the clones face, kicking it several times. While the clone is still in the air, Michonne lands, swiftly redirecting her chakra in the soles of her feet once again, she propels herself forward and cocks her left hand back, punching the clone with all her brute force, sending him spiraling into a nearby Oak tree. Landing, yet skidding across the field, Michonne comes to a sudden halt, then proceeds to fix her posture. Making her way back towards Adachi, she drags the Bokken across the field, making a small track.

Finally reaching her Teacher, Michonne drops down, tired and fatigued, she sits in a criss-cross position. Drinking some water she was given earlier, it oddly rejuvenates her way faster than she expected. "Chakra charging, it was useful for short busts of energy that allowed me to swiftly dash towards my opponent. It can be used to speed up the pace of your battling, making it harder for the opponent to hit you, but quicker and easier for you to hit them. The Bokken's handle was useful by having being blunt. Since it's blunt, it can force the opponent back after their hit, which allows me to charge chakra and creep up on them once again, while slashing them would on, y'know, slash them. All in all, I liked this, it felt so natural, everything was smooth and fluent. In fact, this session is only adding onto my love of sword handling, I appreciate it, Adachi"

As expected, the technique was executed with near perfection and Adachi's clone was struck with brute force as it flew backwards into a tree, dissipating into smoke. Michonne returned back to her original spot, sighing softly as she sat herself down for a small break, relating her experience of the technique as she did so.

Adachi listened for some time before nodding in acknowledge of her words. "You covered pretty much everything I was looking for," he replied. "However, allow me to add a bit more to your arsenal of abilities. Chakra charging not only temporarily boosts your speed and the power behind strikes, but also allows you to pull off basic moves such as balancing yourself on an unsteady surface such as when the C-Rank Earth move World Shaking is used or simply walking across water. Likewise, a handle of a sword is much like your own brute force, except not with a body part but a weapon as of itself. It can be a way to test out the strength of a certain compound or material without hurting yourself."

Adachi received into the pouch on his side and pulled out a tiny scroll. Moments later it poofed only to reveal a simple, black sword in its place. Walking up to Michonne, he offered it to his student. "No more bokkens now," he informed her. "You'll work with a real blade. Now, with the concept of charging chakra earlier, you'll now focus it into the blade rather than yourself. Begin by distancing yourself from my clone then start running towards him to build momentum. Once near, deliver an upwards strike to cause him to fly into the air, jump up behind him, and then much like the technique of impaling your opponent into the ground we learned earlier, I'd like to stab your sword into him and begin rotating your body in resemblance of a drill and end the move by propelling him into the ground as such.

Accepting her new sword, Michonne bows in appreciation, truly grateful for her Sensei's services. She then turns around and distances herself from the clone she was ready to ferociously attack. Taking in a deep breath, then exhaling slowly, she bites her lip and examines the distance between the two. Acknowledging it, she lunges towards him with full speed, gaining momentum with each powerful stride of her legs. As she's within an arms length, she takes her left hand which doesn't possess the black katana, she punches him underneath his jaw line, sending him straight into the sky, as if he was a rocket ready to lunge for the moon. Taking two quick steps forward, she jumps into the air appearing behind him, taking her right hand with the sword, as she charges chakra within it, she impales the clone as quickly as possible. As they make their descent and the clone's belly faces downward, Michonne begins to turn and twist her body similar to a drill, soon, she spins in a fast motion, increasing their fall. As she pushes even further, they hit the ground with force, sending a small tremor that could be felt throughout the training area, she arises from the dust with her sword in the ground, and a minor scratch on her left shoulder. "It's done" she says, uttering her words with confidence, as she wipes the sweat from her blazing face.

Adachi nodded at yet another excellent display of swordsmanship from Michonne. It was rather prominent that she worked hard to maintain a good physical status and with the ease of which she handled the techniques taught to her, Adachi didn't doubt that she could possibly excel in techniques regarding Taijutsu.

"As I have explained much of gravity and body momentum previously," Adachi said. "There is no further need for me to emphasize on this jutsu. It may be hard to execute in full during an actual fight unless you happen to catch your opponent fully off guard. Now then..."

He motioned for Michonne to stay where she stood as he measured about ten meters from her current position. Forming a single handseal, he slammed his hand onto the ground. Three earth pillars about three meters high and one meter in width rose from the ground before him, each of them spaced evenly with the other. "You see before you three pillars," Adachi then said. "These will be your guidance and focus for your next technique. As I'm sure you are familiar with the concept of charging chakra into your blade for simple power ups, this time around, I'd like you to do to that to the extent where the chakra is expelled off your blade into a crimson wave." Gently tapping each pillar as he walked past them, Adachi stopped a considerable distance away in order to allow his student to try the technique. "You can use one hand or two, depending on your preference. Once you believe that you have released enough chakra into your sword, proceed to hold it in such a manner where you can slice the air before you in a perfect 180, focusing your aim to cut off all three pillars in a single attack."
