well kakuzu wasnt aware of his presense. many assassinations work like this. you distract them while other ones get in position and one shot^^

Finally someone understands what I'm getting at. If Chidori is an assassinatin technique just because it can kill it one shot, then, with that logic, so is an RPG. Stopping power does not denote the fact the entire opposition would be altered to you in their midst when they hear CHIRPCHIRPCHIRPCLICKCHIRPCLACKCHIRP and see a huge, blue light coming illuminating the area.

Now. While Kakashi has indeed managed to catch him off-guard here.
1: What is it about the big gash in the chest that's subtle?
2: The light might give his position awayto the enemy, in assassinations, that's not the point.
3: He had to hid while his clone distracted them.
4: It's not like Kakuzu & Hidan are like "WOW, who did that?!! I didn't see anyone?!!"
5: When you compare a silent blade which kills quite clean to Chidori, we can safely say it's the winner of the two.
6: Assassinate means to kill by surprise. Not with a direct shot and alerting people to your presence.
7: Snipers, poisons, knives etc are all used to assassinate people without getting detected.

The point of assassination is to go undetected!!

It is meant for assassination in a way that is swift and targets a vital point.
What you mentioned were the drawbacks of an incomplete version. Still, the fact that it carries drawbacks doesn't invalidate the purpose of the said jutsu, as it can still work given the right scenario.
