Chidori is a change in form and a change in nature and can counter the basic Rasengan but the the Rasenshuriken is a change in form and a change in nature and the Chidori can't counter it the without the change in nature the Chidori is nothing but what Naruto has shown is that even without the change in nature the rasengan is more powerful because if you were to add a change in nature it would be more powerful at an equal level

I agree that Kakashi did teach Sasuke the chidori because he felt a personal connection with Sasuke and his darkness however, if I'm not mistaken, didn't Kakashi teach the Chidori to Sasuke to counter Gaara's Sand Shield/Armour? From what has been explained thus far in the manga and anime, you can tie to two together, even if you feel it is loosely related. This, of course, is how I tied them together. I don't mean to undermine anyone and I apologize if anyone feels that way, it is not my intention.

Sasuke has a lot of chakra too hence his Mangekyou usage.
