Earth is the second name of our planet.This explain one thing: Life.
Earth is one of the five classical elements. It was commonly associated with qualities of practicality, restraint and materialism. It was also associated with the physical, sensual aspects of life.Earth can take form of huge and massive things or tiny and little things.it's hard to the touch.It is good for defence and offence.The jutsu usually take form from the ground, which is ussually earth, but advanced jutsu can produce earth out of nowhere.
It's weak to lightning, and strong to water.
earth element can produce other element in conjuction with water, fire.....etc.

*I take the dirt, and start flowing my chakra into it, not to much, and not too little.Just the right amount.I concentrate, and eventually the dirt hardens to solid rock*
