[Discussion] So Sai left a clone behind? Why?

I didn't catch this before, when I first read 470. All I noticed at first was Sai apparently spying on 2 people. One appears to have a bowl cut and shiny hair like Gai, and the other has an ANBU blade. I thought the end of this page right here with Sai looking to his right..

Were the SAME Sai but now it looks to me like it's a Sai clone looking in on Sai and Lee leaving with Kiba and Sakura.. does anybody know what's going on with Sai right here? Cause I'm a little confused...

I have no idea what that could be...

they only thing I could figure is if Sai will need to hide from Danzo... because seeing Danzo (sharingan) will activate the trap jutsu he has...

or maybe a root spy?

Well i noticed this as well, i think that sai. Still has somethings going on. He is still suppose to create something big. But it could be the real him and he sends his clone back with the restt of the group. Or the other way around only time will tell what he is up too.

Sakura, kiba, sai and lee are all together, sai left a clone behind to check on what they were hiding, about madara and all. And maybe to check if they knew the location of sasuke or something. Hes trying to spy on yamato, kakashi and naruto. But naruto was meditating before they came, so he will maybe continue to meditate, trying to locate sasuke, but he will notice sais clone.

My best guess is that sai made a clone so that the clone could tell naruto what was really going on.

Like others already said, I believe Sai left a clone behind to find out what Naruto Kakashi, and Yamato are keeping a secret.

sai left a clone behind because:

- to real know the truth about sasuke, which was told by tobi to naruto, kakashi and yamato. and sai his going to discover with his clone the truth, why sasuke as joined akatsuki after defeating itachi
- to tell sakura some information about them. example with they find sasuke, sai would tell her or even about their movement
- to tell naruto the truth beyond shikamaru's plan. remember that sai told sakura that naruto was in love with her, he couldnt stand quiet, he had to make something

i think sai is just being cautious and smart. you kow, just in case they will get ambush, he is safe. it is just a clone.

This is the one I agree with. But I think clone Sai is the one that went with the team, he will eventually disappear (be released) so real Sai, who is the one near team Kakashi, will be able to tell Naruto.

Sai is loyal to Naruto, all this "I love you" mess he accidentally brought about was because he wanted to help Naruto be released from the promise. But he has now realised Naruto has his own reasons for wanting Sasuke back.

Why did Sai do this? My guess, because he knows Naruto is the only one who can fight Sasuke - remember he's the calculating, thinking type- and that the Sakura team can be severly damaged. He may have also wondered what Naruto was going to talk about when Kakashi stopped him. After all, Danzou was involved in this, too, and Kakashi may have thought Sai should not be told about this.


There is also a slight chance that he's obliged to give some info to Danzou, remember he's got that seal in his tongue.

I think I'll have to agree with both of you.. he didn't know Sakura wasn't going to tell Naruto, and he didn't know Naruto held information on Sasuke. All we have left is what Sasuke Uzumaki mentions.. that Sai's still acting on Danzou's orders to keep him updated on Naruto's current whereabouts and mission.

Unless Sai's clone was really created -during- their meeting. hm
